1. Ban the erruption of all volcanos, one erruption produces more green house gasses that mankind has produced in 5,000 years.

2. Stop using all non photoelectric, nuclear, or hydroelectricly produced electricity. All other forms of power production produce CO2 and other gasses.

3. Stop using all forms of transportation except for human powered modes.

4. Stop using your computer, TV, phone, I Pod, video games, Air conditioning, heating etc....

Do all those things and guess what? The earth will still get warming and then cool off again

Basically just stop your whining and read up on weather cycles to grasp the concept that we have ice ages followed by periods of warming followed again by ice ages and so on

Sorry Dana1981 #1 is the truth. I'll believe my own education and professors in Environmental Technologies over a Govt Web site.

Ummm Enraged Parrot the plant doesn't just heat up and cool down on it's own ? Funny last time I checked it has been doing that since long before mankind evolved. I seem to recall we have Ice ages and periods of global warming that have been occuring for millions of years all without mankinds help. Now what causes these "magical" warmings and coolings ? Ohh yes it's the earth's eliptical orbit around the sun.

His point is that reducing and conserving isn't going to achieve the 80% reduction that is being said OVER and OVER. That 80% comes from many people.

You just aren't going to get there in the next 100 years. So you will have to do drastic actions (and require everyone else to do so also) to even get close.

But you'll convince people they can change some lightbulbs and combine trips in their car and your beloved AGW will stop. But if you research the facts, that's just not enough to do it.

Strange, I haven't heard there where so much volcano activity going on lately that it would increase the CO2 levels in our atmosphere with 35% since pre industrial levels....

Apparently, the vulcanic activities must be higher now than in the last 650 000 year timespan at least since CO2 levels hasn't been as high as now since before then...

For your ideas 2-4 you do have a point ...
2. Personally, I choose green electricity for my home and it works just as good as fossil fuel. In Sweden where I live the extra cost to do so is close to nothing!

3. I choose to walk or take the bike when I can and

4. I always switch off the power to my computer, TV e t c when I don't use/need them. If everyone did the same it would be one big step in the right direction.

Have a great day!

1. Blaitant lie, or complete ignorance. Volcanoes produce 1% the level of annual human CO2 emissions.

2. Nobody is suggesting this. We need to use a combination of renewable and fossil fuel power production. We can sequester carbon from coal burning power plants if they're built with that technology in mind.

3. Alternative fueled vehicles are a far more realistic alternative than your sarcastic proposal.

4. Conserving does not equal eliminating.

5. You need to follow your own advice about reading up on global warming, because you clearly have no grasp of the concept that humans are accelerating the process at a dangerous rate.

"His point is that reducing and conserving isn't going to achieve the 80% reduction that is being said OVER and OVER. That 80% comes from many people."

Actually it's 50-80%. And, contrary to the wild assertions being made OVER and OVER it's just not that hard, if we start now. Details:

Not a piece of cake, but well within our capabilities without destroying our life style.

Doing nothing about global warming, however, will accomplish that.

Don't forget that humans emit carbon dioxide in their breath. So to stop global warming all the tree huggers should stop breathing too.

Evidently you're the one who needs to do the reading here. The planet doesn't just magically heat up and cool off, something has to make it do that. Every single climate change in the Earth's entire history has had something causing it. As it turns out, we're the ones causing this one.

I don't know where you've been getting your information but you have been sorely mislead.
