I don't think those are choices we make. I have four sons. They are what they are and I didn't choose them or their traits. I do, however, love them no matter what.
About the 10 commandments....these 10 commandments are just a tiny drop in the bucket from a book that tells us so much more about how God wants us to live and how much He loves us. God is just as opposed to heterosexual sex outside of the marriage relationship as he is homosexual sex. Sometimes in christian circles we make homosexuality somehow a "worse sin" than other things like lying, etc. But God never said that.

First of all, there are many, many more than 10 commandments in the Law; those are just the ones we tend to focus on the most. Leviticus 20:13 (MSG) says: "If a man has sex with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is abhorrent. They must be put to death; they are responsible for their own deaths." (God is the one speaking in this verse.) So while being gay is not one of the "10 commandments," it is clear from this verse that God does not approve of homosexuals. No, I do not believe that we should kill homosexuals: Jesus died to take away the death penalty for sin.
As for whether I would rather have a gay son or a liar, I couldn't say. I would prefer neither, but either way, I would pray for them and try to show them their error.

As was already pointed out, there are not 10 commandments but 613 recognized commandments. One of those is to not lie with a man and you would with a woman. Now you can spin that anyway you want too but the fact is that in the context the Scripture is talking about sexual acts.
The Ten Commandments are in misnomer by the way. They are actually the Ten Words. It is a summary of the law. Just as the two great commands of Yeshua are a summary of the Ten Commandments. The rest of the book is a unfolding of what it means to keep those commandments including the prohibition of having sexual relations with the same gender.
Lev 18:22 "'Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable.
Read Lev 18:6-30 for context including how God feels about it. I'm assuming a 2nd grade education here because that's all God requires for you to understand his law. (This book of the Law will be read to the assembly every seventh year, i.e. a seven year old can comprehend this. Whats wrong with you?)

There are 613 commandments, not 10. The commandment to which you refer says you are not to bear a false witness (in court) against a neighbor. There are several examples of people who lied in the bible for various reasons and were not punished by god. I happen to believe that being gay is not a choice and that there is nothing wrong with it, but if you're going to question fitting the bible to one's needs, you should have all the facts in hand first.

There's plenty extra within the Bible than simply the Ten Commandments. The legislation given to the Israelites on their strategy to the Holy Land from Egypt entails one that claims any guy stuck mendacity with yet another guy will be placed to loss of life. This is in which such a lot folks get their "homosexual is a sin" perception.

Thanks so much for asking. So sad that you know nothing more of God's word than that. There are other commands in the Bible, not just the big ten, and they define the behavior God expects of man.
St. Paul says clearly that God hates it when a man lies with another man. He even hates it when men dress as women, and women as men. Here are some quotes from our Lord's Word:
Deuteronomy 22:5
A woman must not wear men's clothing, nor a man wear women's clothing, for the LORD your God detests anyone who does this.
Romans 1:27
In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.
(It even mentions that diseases come with that kind of behavior)
Leviticus 18:22
" 'Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable.
Leviticus 20:13
" 'If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.
There's more, but this should do it.

it doesn't need to be in the Commandments. It's common sense and is in the Bible--1 Corninthians 6:9...Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders will inherity the kingdom of Heaven....plus who wants to mess with members of their own gender?? that is soooooo eeeeewwwwww...the opposite sex and much more appealing...but if you are gay, figure out what is wrong with you!! and then pray for forgiveness

The Aseret Hadibrot (ten sayings, what non-Jews call the Ten Commandments) are like chapter headings, they are categories into which the other 603 commandments fit into.
All the forbidden sexual relationships are linked (given at the same time in the same place in the Torah)- thus sodomy is in their under the "coveting your neighbor's wife"
