You can't cure it. Once the gum has receded to expose the root, you can't get that gum back unless you have a periodontist graft new tissue there. You can use sensitivity toothpaste and/or get your dentist to fill it so that the nerve is sealed.

With the gums receding off the tooth, the root is exposed. Since there is no enamel on the root, the nerve endings are exposed and your tooth will hurt when you touch it, or when you have something cold or sweet. If that's where it hurts, you can use a sensitivity toothpaste to seal the tubules that transmit sensation to the nerve. You don't need to use it on all your teeth (unless all your teeth are sensitive), but you can put a little on your finger and apply it directly to the area and leave it for a few minutes before you brush. Some people it starts working right away, but they say to use it for a full tube before you can really expect results. My pain from that went away in a few days. If you've been using it for a while and don't feel results, your dentist can paint on a varnish to seal it - or bond a filling to it.

Is there a bump on the gum? IF so it's an abbcess and u should go to dentist because it means the tooth is infected and this can cause bone loss and many other problems that will cost a lot of money. I had a friend that had this very thing happen. It ended up costing her $3000 because she waited sooo long.

I have an abcess and there is no lump. But I have had the same experience as you.

Go to the dentist immediately. He'll prescribe antibiotics and a pain killer. I did this on Monday and the pain has subsided substantially, only hurts a few times a day and not even close to being as bad.

Either this is a gum infection or an infection of the tooth. An x-ray and an exam will help determine which it is and what treatment is needed. In other words, go see your dentist.

see dentist for exam,or swish mouthwash and hot saltwater if dentist unavailable.abcessed tooth can spread infection to blood, and then form clot, doc might have to inject anesthetic, drain abcess ,pack poultice with antibiotic, give you prescription for 2 weeks supply of antibio, and maybe a blood thinner to prevent clots
