My daughter will not even try eating any meat. My 4 year old son is already asking the types of questions one would ask if they were thinking about becoming a vegetarian. He does not want to eat pigs or cows because he thinks they are nice. He is OK eating chicken and fish for some reason and he does understand that animals like lions need to eat other animals to survive. It is all very interesting. I have my daughter eating things like hummus to give her the proteins she needs. She is just very picky about food. It is interesting how they go through the food likes and dislikes. My 4 year old would not touch meat when he was 2 years old either. He has always liked eating lobster, crab and fish though.

my oldest son went for years without eating any meat at all, he started trying more meat around 12 or 13 and now he loves all sorts of different meat. I think at 22 months, children are getting use to different textures of food more than the taste. I would not give it much thought, In time he will try new foods, as long as he is eating he will be fine.

Don't worry about it, it's the age. The age where they don't want anything mushy, and meat hasn't exactly the best texture. If he's eating everything else then make sure he eats things with proteins but other than that he's perfectly normal for a 2 years old. At some point he will eat meat and won't want anything else to go with it. As long as he's eating...don't worry about it.

I have seen it with my friends 24 month old son. It doesn't matter if you spend the entire day making a stew or meatloaf or whatever, he still won't eat it. He is the same way to with all the other meat to like fish sticks, chicken nuggets etc...
He is still young he might outgrow it, and like meat when he is older, but like you said it is not a big deal.

That is a complete opposite of my son. All he wants to eat is meat. He is 14 months old. Just a couple of weeks ago he polished off a 6oz ribeye on his own. To think he is only 23lbs. Anyways, its common I have heard that meat is a hard thing for them to digest. By the way you know your child is not supposed to have any seafood until at least three right? But give it time when he is interested in what you are eating give him a little bit and see how he does. Good luck!

My daughter hated meat for a long time. I would cut it up so tiny and mix it in with her other food so she wouldn't notice it. It might be a texture problem. My daughter still doesn't like the texture of chicken. I have to make sure it's cut up small or she won't even attempt to chew it. There are other sources of protein, such as eggs, tofu (which supposedly takes the flavor of whatever you cook it with), beans and legumes. Toddlers need their protein. If it's still a problem in a couple of months, ask his pediatrician about it at his 2 year checkup. Good luck.

My son is 16 months old and loves meat, a chip off the old block.
Last weekend we barbecued and he ate an entire bratwurst, I thought he was going to pop!
Talk to a doctor or dietician, other sources of protein are dairy, eggs and nuts. That said, I don't think he can have peanuts yet. Not sure about other sources of iron.

I haven't exposed my daughter to meat regularly, as I don't know much about preparing it even for myself. However, I have not had a problem with chicken nuggets, fish sticks, or hot dogs. She didn't like hamburger (like ground up in spaghetti sauce or hamburger helper), but she seems to be ok with it now.
