Well, he was probably drunk.
But, in a way, it was a compliment to you, he thinks you look good.
But he was not respecting you, however the respect of his FRIENDS was uppermost in his mind! He wanted to show you off to earn their respect!

My group of friends often get raunchy and rowdy when we drink, so I don't want to say that your boyfriend is a complete pig. However, whether he was drinking or not, what he asked was completely disrespectful. He doesn't own you, don't let him show you off like you're a damn prize.
I think that you should also consider that if you are asking this question, you probably already feel like he doesn't respect you.

JUst because ya'll were out drinking does not make it OK for him to ask that you take your top off. That is very disrespectful. Don't make excuses for him with the whole drinking thing. Drinking only reduces your inhibitions, which means he probably really gets off on the idea of you exposing yourself, and the alcohol just made it easier for him to ask.

Hie Margaret. Well to me he is using you as a show girl to his friend because he just want all his friends to be steam up when you are showing this to him and this is because when they are steam up he want his friends and he want to use you as a one night stand and after that he will for sure dump you of what you have did so it is better for you not to open it and show it to them, when you have done that he will go for a ride toghether with the other guys so it is better for you not to show it and it will be dis respectful for you and for sure his friend will start to send rumors to the whole school or other place. Does not respect you at all. If he did, why would he want to let his friends see you topless? He obviously does not care for you. You deserve much better. Talk to him and let him know you felt uncomfortable and for that reason you no longer wish to be with him!

this is not respect,anytime your boyfriend would ask you to take off your top in the front of his friends,he does not respect you or your body,that's just a brief welcome for him to invite his friends to your body.to him it's OK,but that would make any woman feel slutty.especially from the one you thought loved you.

If it bothered you that he even suggested it then I think he doesn't really know you that well at all. I doubt there is respect there, but talk to him about it, see if you can get on the same page about how you feel.

well, that really depends how much he was drinking, but I'd be willing to say he doesn't respect you as a person and just wants to show you off as a sex object.
