I agree. Jesus said FIRST, "Feed my people".

I have a cousin who is a missionary - she hoped that through witnessing ie the good deeds she was doing that people would be interested to ask about her faith. More like here is the food no strings but if you want to talk about my God that's cool too. I would just like to mention that she also campaigned against female circumcision and talked to people about why the practise should be stopped. In the areas she was working in that was not a good plan if you wanted to win people over. If it was all about the converting for her organisation they would have converted then tried the campaigning. I do know some Christian groups don't have this philosophy but I just wante to let you know they are not all the same.
There are also a whole bunch of Christians working in secular organisations like the red cross and action aid. Don't tar everyone with the same brush.
Last point - I am not a Christian

right it fairly is a short answer - maximum (no longer all) Filipinos do no longer love themselves adequate and don't love the rustic adequate! what's the evidence? different than for the reality that i'm a Filipino and have seen those issues and despise it first hand, listed right here are the a number of consequences/evidence that proves the above assertion: a million. they save on vote casting the comparable corrupt politicians - shows push aside for the way forward for the rustic and self 2. They run for public places of work to no longer serve yet to be served and get prosperous - shows no appreciate for the rustic and fellow adult men 3. Crab mentality - shows no self belief/love in ones self 4. Blame others for ones act particularly of taking accountability, occasion: blame the Spaniards for many undesirable behavior which comprise playing and different issues - shows no accountability, as a result no self-appreciate 5. etc. 6. etc....

We do both, obviously. And we help build building, drill wells, and give free medical clinics to administer first aid, and sometimes surgery.

We do a lot of things. You seem to be sadly misinformed.

...We have a “spiritual mandate” to be involved in human needs ministries – Jesus lived it on a daily basis, should we be doing any less? We also have a “denominational mandate” to impact the world in this way – because you and others have given sacrificially in direct response to this command and life-modeling of our Lord.

Therefore, it is a privilege of ours, through involvement in human needs ministries throughout the world, to honor and bless the Lord as His hands, feet, voice and touch. It is equally a privilege to honor you and other Southern Baptists because without your prayer support and giving we would not be able to impact thousands of lives on a daily basis. Thank you for all you do to make many, many human needs ministries possible!

I am a Christian, and I spent several weeks in the Democratic Republic of Congo - we spent our time helping rebuild a school and making friends. We also visited churches and helped encourage our Christian brothers and sisters there.

It is important to just show love to people regardless of whether they want God in their lives or not, but sharing the truth of God's love with them is also important as well.

I actually knew of a church here that was going to Indonesia after the tsunami. One of the members asked me for a donation to help them get there. I asked what they would be doing there and she replied "we are taking tents there." I went on her church's website and learned that they were taking tents there to stay in while they proselytized. I told her I didn't think it was Christian of her to lie to me about her reasons for going so that I would give her money. She said "well we are leaving the tents there when we go home."
I declined to give her any money and sent it to doctors without borders instead. I guess I'm just not as Christian as she is, sigh....

There's so much more to helping a person than just feeding them. By sharing Christ with them, you, as someone mentioned, offer them true hope and joy. (And I have yet to hear of someone threatening no food until you've converted.)

Yes it is needed. It's called the Great Commission, and it was given by Jesus. He told us to tell everyone in the world.

Besides, when we serve others in Jesus' name, as His living body on earth, we would be remiss in our service if we did not let them know that it was the love of Jesus Christ that compelled us to go to them and feed and care for them. That is what we are sent to do.

However, there is a MASSIVE difference between holding out a plate of food and saying, "If you want this, repeat after me: I believe in God the Father..." and saying, "I am giving this food to you because the God I love sent me to love and serve you."
