As long as you are eating good nutritious meals at mealtime in between snacks are fine. Koolaide is nothing more than colored, flavored sugar water and holds no nutritional value but, it does make the water go down a little easier. And you need to stay well hydrated, so drink extra water. Getting dehydrated can cause false labor or other problems. (Drinking lots of plain water does not cause water retention and will not cause unnecessary weight gain.)
You need to try and drink a couple of glasses of milk each day although if you are eating yogurt that will count as one.
Eating pregnant is like eating healthy any other time. You just have more cravings. It does not hurt to give in to them sometimes. Lots of green leafy veggies, such as spinach and orange veggies such a pumpkin or sweet potato will give you lots of nutritional value. Meat is good to eat, also.
Remember as long as you take the vitamin supplements the doctor gave you every day the baby is getting all the nutrients and minerals needed to be a healthy baby.
Congratulations and Good Luck!!! Sounds like you are doing great. Just keep up the good work and stay hydrated!

Basically if you are taking your prenatal vitamins your okay. It sounds like you are doing good by getting enough food in for the two of you (the 3 meals a day). But I would not worry about a little koolaid or cokies and chips. You are pregnant and this is your one time to indulge without feeling guilty! The vitamins you are hopefully taking are giving you and your baby all the nutrition you need that you are not getting from the food you consume. When I was pregnant wth my first child, my breakfasts consisted of chocolate packaged donuts and Dr. Peppers. Lunches and dinners were alot of takeout meals. And I didn't drink much water at all. Needless to say, she is a happy healthy growing and extremely smart baby! The only reason I am trying to have more responsible eating habits this time around during my pregnancy is the weight factor. I gained about 45 pounds during my first pregnancy and I would like to gain a little less this time so it will be easier to lose. Sooo eat what you want (excluding sushi) but just be conscious of the weight you put on and also the risk of gestaional diabetes. And take your prenatal vitamins!

Koolaid offers nothing nutritionally, except empty calories, it's as bad as soda.
It's fine to indulge cravings for chocolate or chips or cookies every now and then - just don't eat a steady diet of them. You need to have extra calcium right now to help the baby's bones develop, (and to keep the baby's bones from leaching calcium from your bones!!) so drink more milk, eat some more cheese and yogurt. Eat some veggies at lunch too! Maybe add some fruit at breakfast or after lunch or dinner.
Other than that, you're on the right track! Good luck and feel well!!

Hey Kiddo, Your doing great with your diet, I should know I'm the one who either cooks for you or takes you out to satisfy your craving, lol. Just be careful with your intake of koolaid, it's got food coloring, and you have to use sugar to sweeten it. Your better off drinking natural fruit drinks like apple juice, which you can dilute with water. Orange juice is ok but you can always dilute it more with water also. Nothing beats fresh fruits and veggies, also cooking meats in a cast iron frying pan, gives you more iron in your diet, which is very important when your pregnant. Avoid to much salt, flavoring foods with lemon or lime juice, garlic, onion, tomatoe, herbs and spices is the best way to eat anytime, pregnant or not. Giving in to your cravings is ok, just like anything else always in moderation. And it's not only what you eat while your pregnant, it's also important to exercise and rest. Plenty of water during the day is also very important. When in doubt, look things up on the internet or you can find plenty of pregnancy books in the local second hand stores also. Here's a link to a site I think you'll enjoy checking out.

You are doing great, if you can stick by that diet! Also, would recommend plenty of greens, food with iron, unless you are taking prenatals, then just eat regularly. Also, if you are not lactose intolerant, drink a glass of milk 2 x's a day. AND EAT MEAT! lol
