They were based on current life at the time. God is never mentioned or implied. They were a mirror image of life in the 1960's. My dad looked just like Fred. I thought they made the cartoon after my father. Temper and all, but sweet and loving. Guys were really complex then, but they knew how to be a man! I don't even smell any fundie here.
