everybody is different but i have both of my feet tattooed and i think on a scale from 1-10 it was a constant 7. each of my tattoos took over 2 hours so that was pretty intense. but it didn't hurt bad enough to stop me from getting my other foot done. it's all a frame of mind and if you set your mind to it you can do it.

I haven't gotten a tattoo on the top of my foot, either, but I am getting a tattoo tomorrow. I highly considered the top of my foot, and all the research I did told me that that is a particularly painful area because it isn't so fleshy. The closer the skin is to the bones, the more it will hurt, so the top of the foot is usually pretty painful.

On the other hand, most tattoos there are fairly small. If you can handle the pain, it probably shouldn't take too long. Good luck, I hope you like your tattoo!

PS - I didn't decide against the foot because of the pain factor

I cant answer your question, sorry, but I did get a tattoo about 3 weeks ago,
a sign in the tattoo shop said simply "It wont hurt, if you really want it"
In other words, if you are worried about the pain (and everyones pain thresholds are different anyway), then you shouldnt get the tattoo, if you truely want it, then grin and bear it.

hiya, okay feel awful telling you but you did ask!!! ive been tatooed ten times and the second most painful was on my foot!! ive got a small tribal design on the left hand side of my left foot and i was virtually chewing my fist having it done haha, still though ive had others since so if you look at it that way it cant be that bad!!
everybody is different though and what area was painful for me may be okay for you and vice versa.it was mad when i had mine done because of the nerves in your foot and how sensitive they are my toes were doing their own thing wingling shaking you name it...bless em!!
good luck and good on ya for having the foot done they look gorgeous when done!

i have a tat covering my whole foot. it's not going to be as painful as you think. get your artist to test the needle on you without any ink to make sure the pain is not more than you can handle. I think if you really want it, it will be worth the few min. of pain.

i have a tattoo there and it hurt more than my back piece but mine was small so it went fast. that is a sensitive area but the pain isn't unbearable or anything.
