An Inconvienent Truth is pure propaganda straight out of Hollywood. There may be a few truths in it but it's more sensationalized than anything. Don't believe everything you watch or read about. Think for yourself and actually do your research instead of believing one crockumentary without questioning it.

I read the book "An Inconvenient Truth" and didn't find the great convincing evidence that global warming is anything but a natural phenomenom. The book had a lot of charts and graphs that showed evidence of normal up and down cycles but when it got to today the graphs went straight up with no real explanation as to why. I really can't understand why people use this as a basis for their beliefs.
I am all for conservation of energy and not polluting the environment. I have been doing it all my life. If that is what this is about, then the global warming people should say that and stop trying to use scare tactics.

Sam, what makes you think the world doesn't care about "Global Warming" ? The fact is the earth was several degrees warmer some 6,000 years ago that it is now and yes it might get warmer again. After that warming period there will be another cooling period know as an ice age, we get those every 10 to 14 thousand years or so and last time I checked we're past due for another.
As for Al Gore's piece of fiction titled "An inconvenient truth" it's so flawed as to beyond laughable. None of his theories and or models (or those of any real scientists for that matter) take into consideration the effect that precipitation (rain and snow) or or the oceans for that matter have on the "global warming" concerns.
The fact of the matter is that yes the earth is currently less that one degree warming that it was 30 years ago. The fact is there is more evidence to indicate that our Sun is responsible for this current warming period. The fact is the weather experts can't correctly tell me what the weather will be like next week let alone in 30 years. The fact is there are weather cycles on this planet that last for thousands of years and we're just beginning to grasp that concept. So yes we are quite probably going Thru a period of "global warming" but since there is nothing you, I or billions of people can do about it why waste time worring about it.

Umm because the Inconvenient Truth is full of BS that is easily disproven and the global warming machine is a $40billion industry. Not to mention that thousands of scientists have come out against the notion that it is man made and more come out all the time. Humans contribute about 1/3 of a percent of all greenhouse gas which is not an amount that will change much.

I believe the world do care but some people are protecting themselves saying they don't because they've lost hope. I also believe these people become selfish because they convince themselves that their actions doesn't make a difference.
I can't imagine those who doesn't care have children of their own because if they had, they would care about how the world will look 50 or even hundreds of years ahead. (I want my children to believe in the future and feel the joy of raising kids of their own)
My last reason that people doesn't care is that they have chosen to believe in the skeptics instead. This would also make it useless for them to act and they don't have to feel any bad conscience about not changing their habits the slightest bit.
In all the above I feel the importance that we who do care and are involved, tries to inform and educate people about the facts in a gentle way and give them hope. Without hope nothing good will evolve! It's also important that we tell our leaders that it's actually their responsibility to make the right decisions. If a private person says they don't care what will happen 50 years ahead I can take that, but if leaders for big countries shows with their actions that this is their philosophy, then I get really angry to say the least!

Brooke got it right with the first answer. People are inherently selfish and are first concerned with their own needs. They are typically financial and are driven by a Capitalist Society. I am an Electrical Engineer and as a single example the quality of manufactured Electrical Distribution equipment has been in slow decline with regards to its efficiency for the last 50 years (lost efficiency in the country's and your building's electrical distribution system equals more coal to be burnt). It is because in a Capitalist market consumer demand drives what is utilized and installed. This can be in your home or anywhere else. It took the US Government in EPAC 2005 to put a law in place to dictate the minimum efficiencies of certain electrical distribution devices. This is the only way to force a change in the system. A simple question to ask your self is, when my hot water heater in my house goes out, will I buy the $1,200 high efficiency one or the $350 regular one. There is your problem right there...

If everyone will remember back in school when you studied the orbit and rotation of the earth, you will remember that it is eliptical and not a circle. At times the Earth will be closer to sun causing an increase in temp. It's a cycle, not a phenom. Al Gore is doing this to boost his ego and probable run for the White House in 08.

I think that for some part, global warming is natural, but that we affect it a lot. Maybe no one pays attention to global warming because politics is getting involved and some people don't want to listen to someone who has different political ideas.

what lesson is there to learn from that idiotic movie?
he has misrepresentaon of facts, and he is telling us that we have to drive certain cars, while it shows him getting on a private jet.
the human race annot stop global warming.
one volcanic eruption(meaning 1 volcano explodes once) causes more greenhouse gases than 50 years worth of car emissions
the earth goes through climate changes. remember the ice ages? they even made a movie about them. a few centeries back temperatures were even higher than they are now. nobody made such a huge stink...
that movie is a big load o bull
gore is not for drilling in alaska, but tells us we should not be on foreign oil.
kennedys own the most prime real estate on long island, perfect for wind mill energy... but want everyone but them to put windmills up
gore owns farm, wherethere are a ton of cattle whose farts are emitting co2, but he doesn't kill them, he tells us to kill our 5
yu breathe out co2, so just stop reathing, then ou can tell the sun to stop being so hot and burning up th atmosphere

To answer your questions in the order asked:
1) Because most people don't see it as a serious problem.
2) Most adults are smart enough to see through this piece of self serving propaganda.
