I apologize for the lengthiness of this, but I had trouble boiling it down.
This fall has been progressing for quite some time.
In addition to the fragmenting of Christendom itself science, philosophy, secularism, and materialism have played a role in raising doubts and fostering skepticism about God and religion.
The expansion of scientific knowledge called into question many of the church’s teachings that were based on erroneous interpretation of Bible passages. For example, astronomical discoveries by men like Copernicus and Galileo posed a direct challenge to the church’s geocentric doctrine, that the earth is the center of the universe. Furthermore, understanding of the natural laws that govern the operations of the physical world made it no longer necessary to attribute hitherto mysterious phenomena, such as thunder and lightning or even the appearance of certain stars and comets, to the hand of God or Providence. “Miracles” and “divine intervention” in human affairs also came under suspicion. All of a sudden, God and religion seemed outdated to many, and some of those who considered themselves up-to-date quickly turned their back on God and flocked to the worship of the sacred cow of science.
The severest blow to religion was the theory of evolution which presented a direct challenge to the Bible’s teaching of creation by God. At first the clergy in England and elsewhere denounced the theory. But opposition soon faded. It seemed that Darwin’s speculations were just the excuse sought by many clergymen who were entertaining doubts in secret. Thus, within Darwin’s lifetime, “most thoughtful and articulate clergy had worked their way to the conclusion that evolution was wholly compatible with an enlightened understanding of scripture,” says The Encyclopedia of Religion. Rather than come to the defense of the Bible, Christendom yielded to the pressure of scientific opinion and played along with what was popular. In so doing, it undermined faith in God.—2 Timothy 4:3, 4.

As the 19th century wore on, men like Ludwig Feuerbach, Karl Marx, Sigmund Freud, and Friedrich Nietzsche offered their arguments in philosophical, psychological, and sociological terms. Theories such as ‘God is nothing more than the projection of man’s imagination,’ ‘Religion is the opium of the people,’ and ‘God is dead’ all sounded so new and exciting compared with the dull and unintelligible dogmas and traditions of the churches. It seemed that finally many people had found an articulate way of expressing the doubts and suspicions that had been lurking in the back of their minds. They quickly and willingly embraced these ideas as the new gospel truth.
Instead of taking a stand for what the Bible teaches, they gave in to the pressures and compromised even on such fundamental articles of faith as creation by God and the authenticity of the Bible. As a result Christendom’s churches began to lose credibility, and many people began to lose faith. The failure of the churches to come to their own defense left the door wide open for the masses to march out. To many people, religion became no more than a sociological relic, something to mark the high points in one’s life—birth, marriage, death.
All that is left is for the political entities to actually turn against religion altogether and seek to wipe it out completly. (Revelation 17:16-17)

I'm trying really hard to find a serious tone to this question.

Your trying to actually make a connection about religion from a anti family anti religion cartoon show that thinking people shouldn't even be watching anyway? It seems incredible to me that anyone would even waste their time watching this dribble not to speak of commenting on it as if it has any importance or relevance.

There is a considerable difference between religion and belief.

Homer Simpson being the little falsehood that he is couldn't mutter an accurate statement if his benefactor's life depended upon it.

The Bible contains the ONLY ANSWERS. Man couldn't find his way out of a turnip patch. The Bible proclaims the False Prophet of the latter days and his bosom buddy the antichrist. These two Godhaters will find their home in the Lake of Fire. The Bible does say that they will shatter the power of the Holy people. But God, But God will speak and put an end to it all. You don't mess with God's annointed.

Christ's followers, those who are adopted into His family and grafted into the Vine, will never "fall" though existing structures may be modified or replaced. A great many people may turn away from Him but that's on record. Those who remain faithful will never be abandoned. (If you've read *all* of Revelation, you know that.)

I don't think an animated character from a cartoon series is anything to base one's ideas, spirituality or philosophy on, but that's just me.

Science and reasoning began the down fall of religion as soon as they put forth better and more accurate explanations for existence and the development of the same.

Religion, originally seems to have been developed so as to allow an unscientific community to explain what seemed to be unexplainable (i.e, where did everything come from, why or how can everything keep exisiting, how did everything come about, who is keeping al of this going, where does one go when one dies, etc., etc., etc.)

As man's intelligence developed along with his reasoning powers, he discovered many of the answers to what had formerly been unanswerable.

If religion had solely pursued moral teachings instead of science, it might still be as revelent as it was when it first began. Unfortuanately for religion, it wanted it all and tried to teach what it was never meant to teach. When the better teachers with better answers came along, it necessarily had to begin to fade.

IN this life, nothing has permanence, even faith, religion and belief systems.

The Bible is book form Jehovah God and whatever he says or promises we can be more than sure that it will happen. He has never lied, and never will. From the beginning, Satan said if you eat from the tree you will not die. God said you will. Who lied?
That is why Jehovah's Witnesses recoginze that the end is near and the Bible told what people would be like in the last days. And as we observe, people are definetly fulfilling these prophecies.2 Timothy 3:1-5 We are trying to give out a warning and share the good news and tell people of the great promise God has promised us.
Yeah, the end of False reigion is near! Its your choice. Do you want to be destroyed with them as well?
watchtower.org also has ALOT of information. =] Hope this helps.

The Bible says that Babylon the Great will be devasted in "one hour". (Rev 18:19). That is not a long period of time. Even in Bible hours, it would be a short period of time in comparison to the lifespan of a human.

Yet Jehovah's Witnesses (who predicted that Christendom would be completely destroyed in the year 1918), say that false religion fell in the year 1919. (Guess there just wasn't any way they could make 1918 stick, so they had to "adjust".)

Isn't that hour about up yet?

Me personally I believe it is a heartful relationship with Jesus, so when that time comes religion will not be relevant and it should not be today either. All that counts is that close relationship with Jesus. That is why I am non denominational. I really don't like getting in any disputes about different religions because it is all non sense compared to a real relationship with Jesus.

People are awakening to the likelihood that life exists on other planets and that we were engineered by beings superior to ourselves. Those beings who created us are God not a face in the sky with a son who wears sandals.

Other people are just looking at the archive of bad events we have accumulated and don't see how a loving and merciful God could allow it.
