The Bible is far from perfect. It contradicts itself in many places. It purveys a hatefull morality. It's based on the superstitions of the eastern Mediterranean about 2000 years ago. It was complied by people with a political agenda. This is just the start. When you actually compare what the bible says to reality, you find even more contradictions.
As for the God described in the bible, this creature is most certainly NOT perfect! It is hatefull of those who disagree. It is spitefull. It is arrogant. It encourages ignorance. It is tyrannical. Not the type of being I would want to follow even if it did make the universe (which is just the bible's story, not reality).
I wonder if you have actually read this book that you consider to be perfect.

Well, I am a Christian in that I believe the Bible, I believe in God and Jesus and all that.
What I have choosen not to believe is today's church. I grew up southern baptist and in every single church all I saw was a bunch of hypocrasy. They tell you sex is the biggest sin ever but half the congregation had shotgun weddings and were heading for divorce (another sin that the church forbids).
They made one teenage mother stand up in front of the church and apologize for the disgrace she brought upon the congregation because she wouldnt marry the father of her baby.
I hate how snotty most Christians act. Christians are the only group of people I have seen that show such disrespect for other people and their beliefs. Not everyone is taught Christianity. I really hate it when someone goes around Bible thumping and name calling instead of lovingly witnessing to that person. You will never convert someone if all you do is scream at them about how wrong they are.
I don't know if this was really what you were looking for or not, but it is my opinion. I also think that the hypocrasy and holier than thou attitudes of the church is why a lot of people are against Christianity.

I have followed The christian god in faith and devotion for most of my life thinking that being a better person and more devotional effort on my part would bring me closer to God that my prayers humble enough would be heard i have cried in despite measures in the night for my family health and circumstances I felt that my prayers would heard by the deaf and things just kept getting worse there was no blessing no miracle I couldn't tell you when if ever I reaped the harvest of my efforts till one day I reached a breaking point in my life I told myself this is me walking away and not turning back I never felt close or welcome in the house of God but i gave it my all and I'm never going to allow the teaching of my childhood to scare me in to faith to me God Isn't Real so I went soul searching I kept dreaming of a Egyptian God so I did research The God of the lost the god of the dead and so forth i decided To follow another religion F.O.A. followers of Anubis Established in 1996 and I never been happier I have a brighter future my prayers are heard and answered I'm not left in the dark. I could seat here all day giving testimonies and praise So to sum it all up find your path find your god some may not be real but i do believe Anubis is real I think the reason most ppl didn't respond to the question cause a debate would only lead to converting others by testimony if you interested in some research i put together on anubis here is my site http://heathergriffin28.wix.com/religion-of-anubis

Ewww, why would you EVER choose Christianity? Your god created all the evil in the world. Why would you ever want to worship it?
Don't understand how your god created all the evil then here let me put it simply:
Ponder this for me.
God, who you claim is a perfect, all knowing being, created Satan. God, being the all knowing being, knew Satan would rebel one day and create hell. Yet, god still created Satan. Therefore god created evil. To remedy this, god, the all knowing perfect being, sent his only son down to earth to be tortured and killed.
So let me sum this up. God could have prevented evil from occurring but instead of preventing it decided to sacrifice his son to make it so some people could be saved from something god created and could just as easily uncreate. Therefore god allows evil to occur and if god doesn't then god isn't a perfect being. Which begs the question, which part is untrue? Is god evil or is god not perfect as you claim and his words are imperfect?
You can state freewill but that would not apply here since god is an all knowing being god knows long before you do what decision you are going to make. Therefore your free will is just an imagination. Unless of course you are admitting your god makes mistakes

Man has been creating their version of "the way" since the begining of time, what makes christianity any different? If you research the history of religion (which goes back about 35,000 years before christ btw), you will see too that it was created as a way to control the masses of selfish people...and as a way to deal with the bad things that happen in life...but mostly just to control people. Why do you think there are so many religions, if one was the "only way" then it would be the only way.

Answer: No The Bible is imperfect as its human authors.

Personally, I believe in (a) God. But I also know that the bible is not perfect, that it wasn't written by God, it was written by men, has been translated countless times over and used to oppress people - not to mention it contradicts itself plenty. (Old Testament God is constantly sending plagues, floods, and generally being pretty intolerant. New Testament God is all-loving and merciful. Stuff like that.)
If people believe something different than you, or don't believe in anything at all, as long as they lead good lives and treat others well, does much else matter?

"Why do you not choose Christianity? Why? The Bible is perfect, it's author God is perfect!"
Well, that's all false. That's your problem - bad beliefs.
There is no God, and the Bible is mistaken when it claims that there is one. It's also wrong about life after death, the existence of a soul, and the claim that Jesus rose from the dead. Obviously it's far from perfect.
I couldn't care less about contradictions in the Bible - the thing is simply false, and the problems are in the central claims, not in some peripheral little things like who was how old when.
I can't imagine why anyone would want to talk to you personally. You sound like you're enthusiastic about these false beliefs, and the last thing anyone wants is to have to listen to someone rave about nonsense.

I used to be a Christian.
My leaving had a lot to do with the hypocrisy of the Church, the lack of actual answers to questions other than "Because the Bible says so", and the Born Again Christian who told me that my father must have done something bad to have been taken so young (he died when I was 9) and he was burning in Hell now.
That pretty much killed any idea of a "loving, benevolent, caring God" right there.
I love the irony in your name, by the way - you DO know who Anubis is, right? Does your God mind that you're using another God's name?

the bible is sometimes boring, sometimes confusing and often extremely bigoted. And it is obviously the work of various people who seriously disagreed with each other. Also, if the Bible were such a perfect guide to life, Christians all over the world would not disagree with each other over how to worship and what to believe.
Also, the trinity (three entities are one yet three) makes no sense to me. I studied church history, and it seems very clear to me this idea was formulated as a compromise between people who thought there were three divine beings and people who thought there was one. To believe the result of a political compromise to be a fundamental truth even though it makes no sense is something I am not prepared to do.
