Okay, Christian here, and I'll go along with your scenario. If it were suddenly proven that no deity exists, I would still be grateful for the influence of religion in my life. Even if the God I believe in doesn't exist, the example Christ set for us, the way of living that he taught, has value. Christianity is about (or *should be* about) compassion, respect for all life, respect for human dignity, honesty, fairness, generosity, and peace. Whether or not there is a deity that embodies all those things, they are valuable in their own right and a useful foundation for a functioning human society.

OH my goodness, I just hurt for you and pray for you. There is NOTHING, you can say to show that God doesnt exist, as there is so much proof otherwise, and when you have seen true miracles from God, you KNOW. There is much Bible proof, as in fullfilled prophecy, Look at the archealogical digs that contstnatly proove the things of the Bible. Miracles all over the world,s till today. and so much scientific evidence. Not all scientists believe in the big bang and evolution Read the vast evidence out there from the scientist that are Christian, that explain how this science that is real runs right alongside Gods perfect word. YOu cant conviince us there is no God, GOd has already proven otherwise over and over again. We just pray that one day you will know too.
Doestn matter what you or anyone thinks, even me. It only matters what God says, and that settles it for Christians. Yu will never be proved that GOd doesnt exist, cuz He very much does.
It is like if you are human, and I come up with all kinds of false evidence to proov eyou are really monkey. You know better no matter how real any evidence may appear.
May you find God today. Seek and ye shall find, and all will be added unto you. Choose Jesus soon, as He is coming soon, and we have to choose Him before we die or He comes again. CHOICE is fully yours, and be careful convincing others there is no God, as you will be held accountible for each one. But, remember God is quick and eager to forgive Just ask and begin anew with HIM> that is our prayer, those of us that know and love God, that one day you will too, and be celebrating with us.
Till Jesus comes.

I too, believe in the existence of a superior power (the Almighty) and so if you were able to prove (by whatever means) that no deity exists, then I would be shaken in the short run, for I have the feeling that:
'There is no power (that) can conquer you when God is on your side;
Just take Him at His promise, don't run away and hide!'
so if the very foundation of my belief is shaken it would make me feel insecure.
However man is a being of volitional consciousness. By this I mean that his ideas about everything, including life, are made by personal choice. The idea that no supernatural power exists to bail me out (of any trouble), would slowly be pushed to the corner of my mind (with time) and I would try to seek more Earthly solutions, ways and means to all my problems.
Why do men pray? Praying is nothing but an act of inner reflection and self-realization. Those 'saints' who speak of communicating with God are in fact, employing a very efficient search engine within themselves, to discover two very fundamental truths in this world: their Existence & Consciousness

I think it would disastrous; all the people who have obeyed a moral imperative up until this hypothetical enlightenment would have to work out their own morality.
Imagine all the Christian who ask questions like:"how can atheists have any morality?", (and there are many who think like this), what would stop them doing bad things if they knew that God was not keeping an eye on them, and they would not be punished in hell.
They would soon join another group where the thinking is done for them, and these groups are almost invariably not very nice. Fascism being a good example.

well I guess I would want to know how you know and question #2, where does our souls (energy) go? Of course I'd have to ask the very person who just told me God doesnt exist? Thats what I would do first, then I would just continue to live as I always have and just try to be the person I am. None of that would change because it to me is the right thing to do and treat people fairly and respectfully as best as you can. I don't need God to tell me about common sense, nor should anyone else.

Heathens are ancestor worshippers. Even if they were somehow demonstrably NOT deities, our godhs would still be perceived as our literal Elder Kin, and our belief in personal responsibility, honor, courage, moderation, and wisdom would still be an effective means of living in the modern world.
