A dogma is the hand of the dead on the throat of the living.

Adel A: Do your truly believe that without religion in people's lives, we'd all be sinnesr: rapist, thieves and murderers? You hold a very low view of humanity. What is wrong with simply living your life by the Golden Rule and being kind to others? No religious indoctrination needed for that.

It's an opinion. However..."dogma" defined is "authoritative teaching". Whether you like it or not - there are authorities - and - although it is everyone's right to question that authority...sometimes, they are right.

The word dogma nowadays has a bad reputation because of hollywood etc..., but it's actually something quite good in my opinion. I can say this as a Catholic. A dogma is just a teaching that has been dubbed infallible by the church. Most people think they're made to control others by limiting their freedoms, but the opposite is true. What people don't understand is that by adhering to dogma they will be much more free than if they didn't.

It's like the concept of killing your mother? Do you want to kill your mother. Assuming the answer is no, then that law, or dogma is not a burden for you. The same thing applies to sex, drugs, alcohol, etc... In reality, those are the things that enslave us. It is the teachings of the church that set us free.

Disagree.

This quote is implying that the dead are choking the living with their influence. But where would we all be today if it wasn't for the influence of the past generations.

I see that this probably is a quote that would appeal to agnostics and atheists. But religion is very important for us, to give us guidance and show us what to avoid. I speak for my religion here (Islam) when I say that without religion most of us would simply be sinners. People would live their life in trial and error, rationalizing many sins like homosexuality and fornication and theft and murder. And we see people today that live their life in sin because they decided that they don't need religion, that they are smart enough to figure everything out themselves. I am not trying to offend any of you - I just want to express my feelings about this, and I hope that you all can see what I'm saying here.

Anyway, that's why I disagree with the quote.

The words captured in some religious as well as non-religious books are nothing but a dead ash. Don't follow anybody or anything. Life is your own radiant experience of self knowledge. Use it and find out what it really means. Because that is what those who wrote it or said it did in the first place.

agree. how else would rapists and murderers do their works unless there was no dogma that said don't murder or rape? moral dogma on the throats of murderers and rapists....that's an infringement on their right to do as they please to satisfy SELF which is far more important than any dogma.
do away with all dogma, religious and political.

note sarcasm.

specific I consider you one hundred%. Negativity is an exceedingly undesirable disease. Being with damaging human beings induces damaging techniques on your techniques. And in accordance to the regulation of charm once you think of damaging techniques then easily you're inviting those techniques to influence your existence and as you think of those damaging techniques you will adventure damaging issues happening on your existence. on the different hand in case you think of constructive techniques then you definately are attracting all of the constructive issues in the direction of your existence. So continually be around constructive human beings and picture certainly.
