well, first, the "stomach flu" doesn't exist. It's usuall either mild food poisioning, or caused by some other source. My advice is see your doctor. Let him rule out the possible causes. Meantime, you need lots of clear fluids, pepto bismol helps too. Don't let yourself get dehydrated.

The "flu" is influenza, a respiratory virus. You have a plain old nasty stomach virus. Very simply put, viruses take over body by using your body's cells as little virus factories; the cells burst, releasing the viruses into your blood, where they go find more cells to use. In the meantime your body is manufacturing antibodies as fast as it can to kill the virus. So it's a race between your body and the virus; sometimes your body's ahead, sometimes the virus is. Eventually your body will win.
Stay hydrated, take nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory pain relievers (i.e., tylenol, ibuprofen, naproxen sodium) if you ache, and eat bland soft foods.
If vomiting continues more than 5-7 days, you may wish to contact your physician. He/she will know what stomach viruses are "going around" in your area and can give advice.
