It'd be better to be a rockstar, but it's not a very practical profession. Everybody wants to be a rockstar, but most people can't be. There are a lot of people who play guitar really well, but most of them can't make a living out of it.

But there's a long time before you have to decide, so don't worry about it too much now. You might decide you want to do some third option by the time you're old enough.

So much will change for you in the next 8 years. Just enjoy being a kid and do well in school so you can do whatever you decide. Even if you earn an AA in HS you can go into the military as an E-3 (more pay right off the bat.)

Being able to follow orders isn't necesarilly a great skill
thumb puppets do that too. try with the music for a few more
years, you are young and have at least 7-8 years before
the military will take you.
P.S. most good officers had a problem with just following
orders but persevered, the people who blindly did what they
where told usually don't acheive much rank or pay.

You rock, be a Military Rockstar, MOS 69c or 69d. You make $25,000,000 a year for that MOS at E-2, and you get Machine Guns, best of both worlds don't you think?

Military is a bit more stable, but pays less.
Rock Star is fun and can make bank, but hard to succeed and you will be dead by 30.
I would find something in between.

How about go to college first, and then decide if you want to be a rock star or pursue a military career.

Which one would you rather do? I'd rather be a rock star, especially if I played guitar really well.

You can do both. Look up Jimmy Hendrix and Shaggy. Good luck!
