OK i go out w/ this really nice guy and have been going out with him for about a year now, but him and my dad dont get along. b/c last year my dad saw some girl messing with him and that was all he saw he didnt see my boyfriend push her away or anything.all he saw was her messing w/ him and him starting to turn around b/f he did something did and have tried to tell him that ever since. my dad just doesnt want to listen to it he says that it is why he doesnt like him i dont belive that i think that he doesnt like him b/c he is Mexican and came from California! i dont see the problem with that its not like he does drugs, smokes, drinks, or is a gang so what is his big problem with it. My dad never had a problem with anyone other than him even when my ex cheated on me with one of my friends he had no problem! i dont understand it! if u can help me please help b/c i am so tired of my dad being like this!

Your dad just being a dad........ he's probably seen you so hurt from your ex cheating on you and don't want that to ever happen again to you........did the mexican really push the woman away? Your father probably seen something in him that leads him to believe he will be a future cheater..............

You just need to talk to him to tell him how you really feel about this guy; and you need to modify your expectations of what you consider "accepting him" to mean. Dads have your back by standing in the wings ready to pounce on anyone presumptous enough to mess with our daughters. Our positions soften to a degree once our daughters tell us "this is the guy..." but never completely, (just in case our daughters are wrong). So, cut your dad some slack; you may need him have your back again someday; he's cheering for you to have the fairy tale ending as enthusiastically as anyone, but he's ready in case things don't work out that way.

try to tell him that relationships like that have road bumps and that was one of them.
