Both born of mortal and God.

Both had trials and tribulations.

Both taught lessons to mortal men.

Both died a death by being betrayed by a close person.

Both died a martyr.

I mean a lot is different between them, but there is a lot that is similar too. Would not you think so as well?

In theory. Excepting one lived and one didn't. I'll give you a hint. The initials of the real one are Jesus Christ.

I think there are no similarities between Jesus and Hercules in all the things that count. Jesus, with his Father, created man, who created the myth of Hercules. While it's true that both might have died by being betrayed, in the myth of Hercules, he died, and that was it. Fortunately for all mankind, that's not the truth for Jesus' death. He didn't die in vain, and His death isn't a reason to mourn. It's through His blood shed that we are able to have eternal life. While Hercules may have been a martyr, Jesus wasn't really, at leat not in the way we tend to think or martyrs. He didn't die for a cause-He was the cause that all Christian martyrs die for. As for the trials and tribulations, all people experience these, Christian or not. Look up this passage in the Bible: "In this world you will have tribulations. But be of good cheer, for I have overcome the world."

Praise God that Jesus and Hercules aren't really the same at all. I see where you're coming from, but your main problem in this philosophy is that you are either considering them both to be stories, or both of them to be facts. Jesus is the ultimate truth, whereas, Hercules is nothing more than a myth made up by people to whom God had not revealed Himself yet.

Both 2 and 3 are both too vague to have any real meaning. since they could apply to practically anybody who's been a leader. 4 and 5 are not true however. Deianeira did not betray Hercules, rather she was tricked by Nessus. And Hercules was not killed for his religious (or other) beliefs. And while 1 is true as far as it goes, it disguises a vast array of differences between the two births.

I made the exact same argument to a Catholic on this site. After calling me ignorant and illogical, he told me that the difference was that Hercules was not interested in saving souls, Jesus was.

However, I stand by your and my earlier statement, they run far more similarities than differences.

Probably because Jesus never existed and was copied from earlier myth.
