If one accepts the reasons of ppl of other faiths is generally judged as a relativist by the most bigots. Why? Does a closed mind equate with truth?

well. prime example is Jesus Christ.
the Pharisees, the most religious of ALL... wanted him killed because of his teachings of Tolerance, Peace, Kindness, and Open Mindedness to all types of people.
and the same cycle happens again and again....
we need to stop the cycle by being Open Minded, develop common sense, treat others as we would like to be treated, etc etc. Positive, Good, Healthy things. not negative, abusive, condescending things..

The problem with so-called open-minded people is that they want to be part of a movement, as in a religion, but want to reshape the movement to their way of thinking. When those of the movement don't accept the open-minded person's deviant thinking, the open-minded refer to the faithful as bigots. If you don't agree with the tenets of a religion, don't join it. You're never going to change the true believer. Like the Simpson's preacher says, try a different sect, they're all pretty much the same.

Open minded people, with all their opinions that may be dangerously controversial, and so very much against the holy dogmas in our most holy Mother Institution, have no discipline, no modesty. They should not be allowed to live among us, to get jobs with us, to pervert our good and pious order.
We humbly accept and adore the utmost holy Truth that is lovingly being taught unto us by our most holy Mother Institution. We surrender, we ever repent, we ever adore. We pray the holy prayers that are graciously administered unto us, and we meekly follow our saintly Herders, our holy Herdsmen. That is what Almighty God our Heavenly Father really wishes from us in all His mercy, that is what our holy Mother Institution wishes from us for the total love of Him.
We do it. And so, when we die we may hope for our soul to be welcomed by an army of ever shining heavenly Angels and thus eagerly triumphantly be accompanied forward towards the ever glowing dazzling nearness of Almighty Omniscient God.
Those open minded people, having exposed themselves unto the possibility of heretical Sin, and so having sinned a lot, and having shown no repentance nor modesty, when they die and dare to appear by the huge holy Paradise's Gate, there they will be stopped by the utmost watchful holy helpers of St. Peter for so to be grabbed by the near waiting firm helpers of ferocious ever grinning Satan and so mercilessly hurled down into the ever scorching fire of perennially burning Hell.
Such "open minded" people doom themselves unto perennial damnation and exclusion from the glowing nearness of Almighty God. They have no discipline. They have NO discipline.

The reason is because people get comfortable living in their own little world of reality and when someone opens that up with real reality they can't take it.

It happens to christians all the time. We're constantly being said not to believe in evolution, to be against gay rights, to be against almost everying because of the beliefs of a few fundies. Quite annoying.

Bigots tend to be all-or-nothing thinkers. If someone doesn't think exactly as they do, as far as they're concerned,they're all bad and they're going to hell.
