I have to admit - as an Indy mega fan - that one threw me a bit....
not because it was obvious that "Jesus was a carpenter", but that Spielberg would assume that Jesus would use His own cup...
Jesus and the apostles were guests in the house of a wealthy friend... the cup could have been made of anything at all. No one will ever know, so Spielberg chose to take poetic license with it.....

He chose the humblist cup,but I bet Jesus used a silver cup because the Last Supper was a Seder and they were using guest facilities which could afford a silver kiddush or seder cup.
