All those who say it's the same are wrong...pure and simple. It's not deployment, it's a station and it's much more predictable than deployment.
If you stay unaccompanied (without your wife) in Germany, your tour is 2 years. If she or any other of your dependants come over you have to extend your tour to atleast three years, even if that requires you to re-up.

If you're already stationed there you should already have your DEROS.
For AF it's 2 years unless you extend, which you'll be asked about a year into your tour.
If you bring your wife you can go for 3 years, only one year longer and you'll get to be together.
Why would you want to go without her though? We are hoping to get orders in December and can't wait to take the whole family. We put in for extended long, so 4 years.

What do your orders say? If it's an accompanied tour and your wife chose to stay in the US, then you've got 3-4 years without her. If it's un accompanied, then you've got 12-24 months.

depends, that should be listed on hyour orders....
most tours ARE different whether or not dependents go along..... ie, my husband is stationed in cuba.. because we went along it was a 30 mo tour, if he had chosen an unaccompanied tour, it was only 18 monthes....
it all depends... READ YOUR ORDERS!!!!!

The same as it would be if she came with you.
The military does not care where your family is. It will give you an assignment and extend it as it deems fit.
Sorry!
Brother in law has been extended in Korea for 3 years. (Family is home) Originally it was 1. Orders aren't everything.

if your orders read Acompanied: 3 years. if they read unaccompanied.. 12-18 months. the chances of Acompnaied orders being rewritten to read Unacaompanied? who knows, your CoC would be the ones to ask, and they are NOT required to approve it.
you won't get special consideration if she chooses to stay behind when Command sponsorship was given. nor will you get Family Separation, and it is possible that could be forced to pay out of pocket for the barracks.

I am not entirely sure about this in today's military, but I do not believe the military modifies deployments based on where your wife is staying.
