Eww! Well, I wouldn't be eating there again, but previous posters are correct. I would let the store know so that they could (hopefully) keep it from happening again, but I doubt that the health department would be able to do much.
Sorry!

Report it to management, make sure that you say that you are reporting it in the interest of better quality control. Accidents do happen even with the best of quality control but some restaurants do not have the best behind the scenes care. Check their Health Department rating.
And, you may get a free meal out of courtesy!!!
I complained matter-of-factly about a bone shard in my Lean Cuisine frozen dinner and got coupons for 5 free dinners and 5 more coupons for $1 each.
Any time a product is not up to par, I respectfully file a complaint or comment and have always received a nice letter and most of the time a coupon or other kind of renumerance.
I agree with other writers, too many 'sue happy' people out there, trying to make a fast buck. Accidents happen!

I'd at least notify the store and get your moeny back! They're probably using a coiled metal sponge to scrub with that is falling apart. But it shouldn't have been in your food!

you ought to take the article decrease back to the shop. If the salmon filet became sparkling and packaged via the butcher/fish monger, then enable the shop know. If it got here out of a can of salmon, call the producer (the quantity ought to be on the can or in simple terms look it up on the internet) and clarify the region. If it became packaged sparkling, the beef counter ought to be held to blame and if the shop is unwilling to do something besides refund your money, touch a criminal expert and that they might advise you on what to do. reliable success! Oh, and be constructive to take photos of the steel merchandise, the packaging, and save a duplicate of the receipt.

I would let the restaurant know out of courtesy, in case some sue-happy, money-grubbing person were to get the next bit, but what is to gain by anything else? No one was injured, you obviously didn't become violently ill. No harm, no foul.

I would talk to the restaurant owner/manager about it, so that they can take steps to prevent it from happening again.
If you feel that they were truly being negligent, then I might opt to notify the health department.

I would call the health department because someone else can get hurt.
