In the Name of Allah, Most Compassionate and Merciful

As-salamu 'alaykum.

Insha-Allah this reaches you in the best of 'afiya and iman.

Needless to say, Muslims in every corner of the world are embattled in our times. I'm not sure which non-Muslim country you visited, but certainly America is one of the most difficult in terms of the types of incidents you describe.

Firstly, one should bear in mind that despite who it may appear is causing you difficulty or giving you a hard time, Allah is still the one in complete control and He Most High doesn't send someone a difficulty except to give them a wake-up call. We shouldn't get too caught up in watching news events and become depressed at the state that we're in. Rather, we should realize that it is easy for Allah to change any situation as He is the creator of every movement and action.

If Allah loves someone, He sends them some difficulties to bring them back from a state of heedlessness to a state of gratitude. For instance, if you were given a hard time in line at the movies theater, you might come to realize that the movie is not something Allah loves, but rather something He has forbidden. This single act could cause you to spend your time elsewhere from now on doing something that Allah loves, increasing your rank in paradise, and take you away from what Allah hates. In this way, this incident at the movies was a great favor from Allah.

Understand that created things, like other people, are simply Allah's action. So how should we act? We should be kind and generous and display the character of our beloved Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace). The idea that "if he pushes me back five, I'm going to push him back ten" has no place in someone who truly understands what's going on.

I urge you to have patience with what Allah has commanded and have trust in all the events and occurrences that come our way which Allah had written before eternity. The older we get, the more we realize that there's no point in trying to please people, as it will always end in disappointment. But trying to please Allah will allow for everyone around you to be a help to you and a pleasure for you. And this is easy for Allah, as there is no movement or power except through him. And All praise is due to Allah, Lord of all the Worlds.

Was-salam.

You seem blinded by your faith. Have you no ability to see the obvious, as others do?
