Actually, the states can enforce immigration law because they are required to first obey the federal laws of the land. Therefore, if there is a federal law on immigration, the states cannot violate the federal law and are under a duty to enforce the law. An example would be the bank robbery laws. Bank robbery is a federal offense but the states can prosecute them. We have 287G training for police officers who can now enforce federal law. So, by virtue of the fact that the States cannot disobey federal law, they have the power to enforce federal law. I would like to be on the research committee for the prosecution of illegal immigrants and the states that seek to enforce the immigration laws. I am positive that I can thwart every argument that the pro illegal immigrants' attornies can bring up. Barring that, simply arrest the illegals for fraud, identity theft, and all the other crimes they have committed -- harboring fugitives, obstructing justice, etc. and those charges can stick. Then hit them with the 287G enforcement. Where there is a will, there is a way. Additionally, all federal funds should be withheld from any state, city, county or other local government that fails to enforce federal law and that fails to report illegal aliens to the immigration and homeland security. Sanctuary Cities are subversive cities and are promoting subversive acts and it could be argued that if the state can't enforce federal law that the sanctuary cities have ceceeded from the USA and are committing treason and treasonous acts and therefore are not entitled to federal or state funds. Robbery, identity theft, fraud, etc. are all prosecutable acts by the state. The illegal aliens can't have it both ways. They can't be immune to prosecution in the sanctuary cities and then be immune to prosecution from those cities that would enforce the law and promote good citizenship. How about a new form of don't ask, don't tell? No valid driver's license--jail. No insurance -- jail. Fill the jails. No english? Pay for your own interpretor or simply stay in jail until someone bails you out and pays for the interpretor. Let's make it difficult for illegals and everyone who hires, harbors and helps, them. Let's demand that the laws be stictly enforced and withhold the salaries of all government officials who refuse to do their jobs and who refuse to enforce the laws. Let's try those government officials for treason!

If we are going to stop all the illegals from coming into this country, especially from the southern borders, how about we stop ALL ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION PERIOD! The hispanics/latinos stand out and are therefore recognizable but what about all those orientals and caucations from europe and asia that are here illegally as well. Or the africans that get here as well. I am an AMERICAN citizen born of an AMERICAN father and MEXICAN mother and served in the military for fifteen years. My sons are half JAPANESE and they too have served this country of ours. Those of you that see the color of a man's skins and determine that he's here illegally are nothing more than racist. Be fair, as it says in OUR Constitution, every man is equal. If not, maybe you are in the wrong country to begin with.

The states were perhaps hopeful the federal government would honor it's own laws and begin enforcement.
Since is now apparent the Senate has no true enforcement plans the states are now doing what the federal government should have done.
Arizona is not alone. Oklahoma and Georgia are among the other states taking action.
Grassroots America must be vigilant and assist these states in their efforts for surely the bleeding heart pro-illegals will try to challenge these laws. We must continue to voice our opposition to allowing illegal aliens overrun our nation.

It took the American citizens of the country to stand up to Congress and tell them that they work for us and not Big Business! Don't stop until our laws are being enforced! I'm glad that some states are acting on this. I just hope Florida will do the same!

It's certainly a step in the right direction. I have NO qualms what-so-ever of other nationalities coming into America...it's what our country was built on, and I'll bet 99.9% of the people here can say their ancestors were from another country, so don't give me any of that malarky about not wanting immigrants..mine came from Europe and I'm so glad they made their way here....however, please, emmigrate LEGALLY...and people, stop hiring the illegal...stop condoning it, and stop making it so easy to get away with...
And...if you want to come here...expect to learn our language...just as you would expect us to learn yours if we went to live in YOUR country...keep your customs, etc...I think it's great...but to live here, you should at least be expected to know the language before you can get things like a driver's license...etc..
Arizona...I applaud you!
