I notice that there are a lot of complaints that jobs are going overseas, and we have an immagration problem.Which leaves me thinking is it the fault of the governments, ours or a little of both? And what can be done?

This isn't unique to Americans, mind. But in general, it is easier to try to blame other people than to take responsibility for your own actions.

Some years ago there was a stink about outsourcing American computer jobs to my country, India. Now there are many people in your country who would say that protectionist measures should be used. Well, to my way of thinking, that is backwards . . . its defending a communist style economic system. Now that has been tried in my country and I can tell you all it does is hurt the economy is the long run. Basically if you want a company . . . any company . . . to hire you, you need to give them the most reward for their money. Its that simple. I know that you can't always match the low salaries that people in other countries may be able to get by on, but sometimes you do need to look at your own attitudes. I remember once talking to an American sysadmin who once told me that "If a company won't pay me at least 80, 000 dollars, then don't waste my time." That is an exact quote. Someone in my country will work for less than one tenth of that to do the same work. Plus he would demand paid vacation time, insurance and a host of perks we could never dream of demanding. Now that is skilled work, but even so, putting a *lower* cap at 80000 dollars I find is kind of outrageous. If that is the attitude there in general, then expect to lose more jobs. No one is irreplaceable.

Americans have been fussing a lot lately of immigration from Mexico. From what I understand, though, is that these immigrants are usually uneducated, barely literate farm hands. *These* are the people who threaten your jobs??? People are dying to get into your country because you are so well off. But being well off is not really a right, but many of you seem to think it is. I mean, so many expect it without thinking they have to work for it. The fact is you need to pay someone for what a job is worth and try to get the best buy for your dollar. If people in your country would be willing to work for what the Mexicans make then they would offer you no competition. You might say that you can't live on that much, but the immigrants can so it must be possible.

Instead of always trying to blame others, try to see how you can improve your own situation and get that silver spoon out of your mouths. The government there seems like it has too much power, but even when it comes to a small business owner . . . would you hire me for 10000 a year (tops) to give competent tech support or a countryman of yours for 80000 (minimum) to do the same? Most small businesses simply could not afford that even if they wanted to.

Like Mr. E said, a LOT of the stuff that you buy comes from Wal-Mart, and most of their goods are made overseas. If you are willing to pay ten times higher for those goods to support American only businesses then you can do so, but how many people can afford that?

Not trying to yank anyone's chain here, but as long as you point the finger at people for trying to save money, you are wasting your breath. You need to be willing to work hard and maybe learn to budget to make ends meet. I know its hard but its the only way to remain competitive.

Would you really force another American to buy inferior goods at higher prices thinking that this is a long term solution?

Since we live in a democratic republic it is essentially our fault. We as a nation have become complacent thinking that we are entitled to something simple because we are born here. The reality is we have eavery oppurtunity to make our dreams come true and we do not take advantage of it. We as a populace allow less than 20% of the population elect our leaders because the other 80% are to busy or lazy to bother to vote. That is our failing as a people. Everything that is wrong with the US is our fault, and in that we see the beauty of democracy. The people get the governement they deserve.

There are many factors involved from complacancy, to some feeling entitled to a better job or better living conditions than their skill level is able to provide, welfare enabling "some" to ride the system rather than fill in the low level jobs, and materialism driving our insatiable thirst for cheap goods provided by other countries not afraid to make people work hard for their living.

Compare the american lifestyle to some other countries with people in their 20's owning huge houses and expensive new cars to people in other coutries with small townhouses or sharing homes with 3 generations of people.

Rather than selling stocks to anonymous stock purchasers. The stock in the company should remain with the employees. The company would be less likely to turn to cheaper labor if food on the table depended on the success of the business.

American company can not start up in another country under the same name we should have copy right laws that would benefit Americans. Should not be allowed to take the name with them they must offer the company to the employees with its current name. Must start up under a new name.

These companies should not be allowed to take advantage of the other citizens and environment. It is possible to start a similar company in Australia and keep the company here.

We have the intelligence and ability the building and equipment to keep these jobs but the government has decided to allow this.

Summary
1 Stock options to employees 1st.
2. Can not take name to another location out of the US.

Here is the thing with America, we want to be seen as heroes and not as the villains.

We want to be on top, never at the bottom.

Its easy to blame than to take accountability for our actions and the actions of our government.

We complain, yet when it comes to elections, you have less than 1/4 of the population voting.
We want things done, but without putting our effort. its the "American Way"

You are exactly right. We are the ones that are letting ourselves down. We farm out work to countries all over the world, move companies to other countries, and we import far more than we export. We are in sad shape and we should be pointing the finger at ourselves. Having a president like Bush isn't helping either, of course, we elected him.

He's pissed off since the Tea Party refuses to satisfy him anyplace within the core. They act like toddlers gambling at the same time they play with Koch cash. All they desire is to carry Obama down, despite the fact that it brings all folks down with him. The Tea Party quite pisses me off.

Why do Americans play the blame game? Because it's easier to fix the blame instead of fixing the problem.

the hardest problems to see are your own because its hard to objectively examine your own self. its interesting that people complain about jobs going over seas or to immigrants yet they seem to be fine with buying something cheap at walmart or not paying too much to have a nice looking yard. i think america still runs on slavery, except now we export it so we don't have to see it. out of sight, out of mind.
