If many christians believe that the Adam and Eve story isn't really true, but it's in the bible, why in the world would you believe the rest of the bible? Why would "God's word" be mixed with a bunch of crock?

Christians pick and choose what they want to believe and follow in the Bible.

Some think homosexuality is a sin .... but then go eat shellfish. Hypocrites, all of them.

Just because a lot of people believe something is not true, does not make the thing false. Some people have told me that the bible is full of mistakes, but when I ask them to point one out to me, they are at a loss. Many Christians are not equipped to explain their faith, and again, that does not make the bible false. If you think a particular verse is weird, there are tons of commentaries available (library/bookstores) that give comments verse by verse. Be sincere in your search for the truth and you will find it, because if you were to look at a lot of the questions people ask on Yahoo Answers, their questions actually give light to an opinion they are trying to validate, and are not really sincere questions. God don't write junk.. Look at your question...it starts with "If", instead of "Many". Do you know there are many people who challenge the bible by saying there is no such thing as truth? My question to them is, "Is that true?"

Good questions.

People just listen to what others says the Bible says and don't pick up their own Bibles and read them.

You should prove what is written in the Bible yourself.

A very good booklet to help you to see if the Bible is true is "Is the Bible true." Read it at http://www.gnmagazine.org/booklets/BT/

Another booklet about "Does God Exist." Read it at http://www.ucg.org/booklets/GE/

A FREE magazine with this issue of July/August 2007 has the lead article titled "The Debate Over Life's Ultimate Question: Does God Exist?" can be read at http://www.gnmagazine.org/issues/gn71/

One more Book about "Jesus Christ: The Real Story" can be read at http://www.ucg.org/booklets/JC/

Please use your own Bibles and prove what is written is from the Bible. Don't believe what men say the Bible says.

Look at the bible the way you look at Aesop's Fables. They're morale stories. It's not the details that matter - it's the point of the story. The point of the Adam and Eve story is this - God created us. He asked us not to sin, and we did. He punished us. There it is. God is the creator, and we should do as he asks us.

It wouldn't for God is truth itself. It is our personal interpretation that is squewd which is why St Peter warned us against personal interpretation of sacred scripture where as an authentic and authoritative interpretor is needed such as the Holy Apostolic Catholic Church Christs Bride

I agree with you! I, for one, believe the account of Adam and eve to be literal... I find nothing in science or nature that influences me to believe otherwise.

On the flip side, just because they don't believe in the Literal truth of it, doesn't mean they deny the Metaphorical truth of it.

Their so-called Messiah taught often by use of parables. Why would you not expect the same of their deity?

The Bible, is God's Inspired Word
In order to understand it, you need to read it in context.
The whole plan of salvation.

The bible contains the 'truth' of being run through with a sword, burned at the stake, or having bombs dropped on you if you don't accept it as so.

Just not my cup of tea, anymore.
