(i can't spell all that well, haha that rhymed,anyways..) I do not like to say that I am a Christian b/c so many (not all) "christians" are so mean and judgemental and really not at all Christians (so please do not put me into that category.), but I do believe in God. My theory however...Is that I found what I know is right for me and everyone should do the same for themselves.Who am I to judge you? All I can do is love you...You believe what you want to believe/or not believe and I'll believe what I want to believe...we respect eachother's beliefs, asking questions to obtain knowledge not belittle eachother...and live happily ever after? what do ya say?

Nice theory. Unfortunately, many people are too bull-headed and stubborn to ever accept other people's differences and get along.

>Christians,atheists,mormons,ev... we just agree to disagree?

If and ONLY if no one ever harms anyone else due to their religion. If ANY kind of harming others due to religion is still going on, then it is unacceptable.

>My theory however...Is that I found what I know is right for me

What do you mean, 'what is right for you'? The existence of God and souls and Heaven and evolution and so on are not preferences, they are logical true/false statements. If God exists, he exists just as much as the monitor in front of you, and if he doesn't exist, he doesn't exist just as much as the pink six-legged elephant in front of you. It is not a matter of what you think is right for you, it is a matter of the truth.

For example, let's say that I decide that what's 'right for me' is to believe that 2+2=3 and that the world is flat. Does this make it true? No. Does this even prevent it from being false? No. I am still believing something that does not match the real world. It will not help me in life to fail to account for jet lag when traveling long distances, or to go to the store expecting to pay $6 for eight pounds of apples costing $1 a pound. Why won't it help me? Because it does not match the real world. Because I am doing things based on beliefs which are not true. According to your reasoning, this should be okay because it is 'right for me' to believe these things. Yet this is clearly ridiculous, and as such your own statements are also just as ridiculous. See what I'm getting at here?

That would be great!

No one asks anyone else to "Prove" or disprove anything. No one goes to the Bible and asks someone to explain inconsistencies. No one calls someone "dumb" or "ignorant" for their faith or lack of it.

The 4 Agreements works very well. (It's NOT a Christian book.)

Always Do Your Best
Be Impeccable With Your Word
Don't Take Anything Personally
Don't Make Assumptions

You are wrong, GRITS. I am a Christian. I am thinking some atheists would have a harder time with it. They're rthe best at name-calling.

I'd love to! Now all the Christians have to do is stop siphoning their religious doctrines directly into the secular law which governs the nation in which I live.

What other religious group in America is legislating it's own particular brand of morality? And yes, I'm asking about a religious group. You can't say that atheists are "pushing an agenda" if something the Christians wanted to do was prevented because it violated separation of church and state. I mean what actual RELIGION, besides Christianity, is poisoning the secular system with faith-based law?

first off LDS/Mormons are Christians. I am one. Second yes we should all let ohers go on their own way if they donot agree with you instead of fighting over it, however if you're a chrisitan & follow the bible then there is atime to stand up for the truth of Gods word. So it's one thing to disagree it's another to defend the faith.

No, I'm sorry, but I cannot just agree to disagree. You are correct that we should not be judgmental, but if they don';t know Jesus, they are going to hell, and it is our Job to divert them off of that path.

The problem is that most Christians have not been taught how to do that. Three fourths of the church is works oriented, so three fourths of the Christians focus on works instead of salvation. It is when we focus on works when we become judgmental. So now we have an additional job. Not only are we to lead the lost to Jesus, but we are to lead the unlearned Christian to sowing seed instead of wattering with vinegar.

We are called to lead, not to push.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I'll be happy to "agree to disagree" as soon as theists stop trying to get their belief systems enacted into law so that I have to live under them.
Until then, I will actively oppose them in any way I can in an effort to protect my freedom.

That would be nice, but it seems the abrahamic religions are fundamentally incompatible with tolerance.

How many christians do you know who will happily agree that the pledge of allegience should not advertise monotheism? Who think homosexuality is a sin according to their religion but would never dream of imposing their religious beliefs on others?

Besides, "moderate" religion opens the door to fundamentalism.

Read Letter to a Christian Nation to understand how harmful religion is - email me if you don't have a copy handy.
