The dates will be from 11/5-11/9 or 10 and we live in Midland Texas... there is a major airport here but we'd probably have to lay over or change plans in Dallas or Houston... not sure though.

YES - the two of you can go to Cancun - from Dallas - for 725 per person including airfare & stay at an all-inclusive. Go to http://www.sidestep.com/ and put in your dates and locations - there's hundreds of choices. You can also look at Cozamel or the Mexican Riveria

Okay, I live in Florida, so I've got a little bit of experience with "beach" travel plans. One key thing to remember: Beachy places (like Florida, the Bahamas, etc) are in "season" in the winter, so prices are higher than they are in the summer (when winter people have gone back to wherever they came from). If you can plan your trip for weekdays instead of weekends, you might be able to save a bit that way.

That being said, there are lots of places and it just depends on what you're looking for. The Gulf coast of Florida is known for white beaches and clear water. There are tons of little resort towns and private islands that can be quite romantic for a honeymoon (although meals would not be included). Sandals and Beaches resorts also have some smaller packages that might suit you.

Look at travel magazines and decide where you would love to go. Then try to find a way to do it. Or find someplace nearby that may cost less.

Use Yahoo Travel or Travelocity Vacations to look up where you want to go. You can get four and five day deals in Puerto Rico for about $800 a person including airfare. It depends where you want to go and where you are coming from. You should shop around with local travel agents too, have them design you a package that fits your budget and meets your needs. It can deifnitely be done with some investigatory work!

Seeing that you live in TX you could take a cruise directly from Galveston. It's about an 8-hour drive to Galveston which is the bad part. However, cruises are not that expensive and you get the luxury of the ship as well as your ports-of-call.

Good luck

My fiance and I live in Fort Worth and we are doing a cruise for 8 days, from Galveston to Jamaica to the Cayman Islands to Cozumel. The cruise includes all our food, a room to stay in (ours will have a private balcony, they clean your room for you every day, you have your own bathroom, room service, etc.) and any activities that they offer on board, including pools, hot tubs, fitness center, nightly entertainment, seated dinners or buffets (depending on your appetite) as well as other things. The only costs not included are your bar tab, if you want to visit the on board casino or spa, or if you want to do organized shore excursions in each port of call (though there are plenty of things to do like walking around and shopping that don't cost anything)

All of this is only costing us around $1500, and that's with the room upgrade to the best available. Wait for Carnival to have a one-day sale and then call and sweet talk them into stuff by saying it's your honeymoon. Comparison shop with other cruise lines and see if Carnival will match what the others offer. If not, say you'll just book with the other company and they'll try to accommodate you. Just be very set on what you should and will get for your money, and you can usually work something out with them. Throwing in a $100 item versus losing a $1500 client - you figure it out.

One of the biggest cost saving factors is not having to pay for airfare. Driving really isn't that bad (I went to school in Lubbock from my hometown of Houston - also an 8 hour trip - and really didn't mind it that much. The trick is leaving early in the morning so when you get there you have some sun left to do something if you want.)

Okay, I just did a quick search at Pleasant Holidays...You can stay at the Hyatt Regency in Cancun, with airfare and car rental included, for only $1510. That obviously doesn't include your food, but leaves quite a bit left out of the $2000 to cover this.

BTW, I should mention that this price was based on a flight out of Houston. I tried Dallas, but there were no available flights.

Go on a Mexico Cruise. The ships leave from Galveston TX and they go to pristine beaches in Cancun and Puerto Vallarta. Your dates are off season so you can get a great deal... about $300 a piece with all meals included. for a 3-4 day cruise.

Good luck and congrats

The majority of your cost is going to be in air travel. I would suggest to pick your locations (country) and see what the air is going to be out of the largest city you are close to. Then you know how much you have left for a hotel. There are nice hotels that are very cheap in the Dominican Republic and Costa Rica. Update your question with what your leave and return date is and a large city close to you that you could drive to and fly out from.

I just did Cancun Mexico according to your dates and an all inclusive hotel from Texas and 2 grand will do it. The air and hotel was $1763.46 -

In my experience, the good beaches you inevitably pay for, one way or another. If its under 2 grand, it might be a dirty beach or a public beach. Some packages are misleading as far as the actual beach and where your room is, so watch out for that.
I think your best bet is choose your place, get a Lonely Planet guide. Their info is generally on the mark.

under 2000 is kinda tough- but it depends on where you live. If you live near a "hub" airport like Miami, NYC, Chicago, etc you might be able to do it.

The Bahamas is affordable...I went there about a year ago for about 800. per (flight, hotel)

keep looking though! you have to compromise on so many of the other details DONT compromise on the honeymoon :)

Cruises are good yet i might recommend going to Bali (uncertain how lots, i comprehend the flight could be high priced yet resorts there are in basic terms approximately $15 a evening, and actual it somewhat is a marvelous placing (and nutrition is way less costly too). My different suggestion could be an all-inclusive hotel interior the Bahamas. i comprehend for a actuality you may e book a flight and all-inclusive inn (with endless beverages) for proper around $one thousand consistent with individual.
