Isn't Jesus God? I am so confused by this religious stuff. Does that make me my own dad? My mother thought I was God until I set the house on fire with my chemistry set.

Chances are good that if you are praying the 'Ave Maria" (Hail Mary), you are a Roman Catholic and thereby a Christian.
As a Catholic Christian, one would have professed his or her faith in Jesus being the second person of the Holy Trinity, meaing that Jesus is God (ie., God the Son, to be exact).
Jesus was born "of the Virgin Mary", which means that Mary is the mother of Jesus.
If Jesus is God the Son and if Mary is his mother, she is therefore the "Mother of God". This comes from the Greek Orthodox Christians who address the Virgin Mary as "Theotokis" or Mother of God.
Of course if you did not believe any of this you would not be a Christain and if you were not a Christain why on earth would you be praying the Hail Mary???
It is not against any rule that I am aware of for an atheisit to employ logical reasoning during his/her life time. In fact, I though they actually had to. I must have been given a different hand book, sorry.

So you don't believe that someone praying for someone else has any effect - spiritual or otherwise? So what is the point of praying for someone who is sick or injured? Apparently, according to the theology quoted in John 14:6, doing so is not only useless, but blasphemous as well (since no one comes to the Father except through Jesus). Nowhere in that prayer to Mary is it asking Mary directly for salvation - it asks her to pray for the prayer. So is it wrong to ask anyone else to pray for you? If so, what is the point of even going to church? If it's not wrong, then what's the problem with asking Mary for a little prayer assistance. Presumably she's got a pretty good network of contacts, and by all accounts she's a pretty nice lady. Why wouldn't you want her on your side?

If it is a problem to you, I hereby give you dispensation to say from now on:
"Holy Mary, mother of god or jesus I must say because there are some bigots who do not know which of both is most correct and I do not want to offend you or anyone, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of death.
To activate the dispensation, you have to say 3284 Hail Mary's.

Jesus is God and Mary is the Mother of Jesus;hence, Mary is the Mother of God. Mary is not the mother of the Father or Spirit, but she is the Mother of the Person Jesus who is two natures(God and Man) and natures don't have mothers ,persons do.

Because Catholics believe that literally Mary was the mother of God IE:salvation. Some even call her the mother of grace. The belief is that Mary didnt just give birth to Jesus' human self, but his deity. Mary is like a god to the catholics, someone to be worshipped and prayed to.
Christians however outside the Catholic church detest that sort of idolatry. We believe Mary was a terrific Jew, good mother and all, but not a god. We dont believe God made her sinless, or kept her a virgin after Jesus' birth or gave birth to Jesus' deity.

She was just the earthly vessel God choose the be born as a man. She is not intermediate between us and Jesus as she acknowledged being a sinner herself when she presented a sin offering in the temple( two turtledoves).
She was blessed between women because she was obedient to God and like the apostle she received the Holy spirit on the day of pentecost

Jesus is God.
Jesus has a mother.
Jesus' mother is Mary.
Mary = Mother of God.
The Blessed Trinity is a bit of a confusing concept for humans, because I'm me and not you and you're you and not your dad or your best friend or whomever. But God is different.
Jesus is God. The Father is God. The Holy Spirit is God. But Jesus is not the Father or the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is not the Father or Jesus. And the Father is not Jesus or the Holy Spirit.

There is debate among Christian scholars and thinkers about whether Jesus was the son of God, God incarnate on Earth, or both.

Because Jesus is God, and Mary is Jesus' mother. Hence, Mary is the Mother of God.
To say that Mary is the mother of Jesus, but not the mother of God, is erroneous.
It's erroneous because it denies the hypostatic union -- the belief that Jesus is fully human, and fully divine. It's a core belief of Christianity.
Most Protestants disagree with the "Mother of God" title for Mary, but in so doing, they are inadvertently denying the fact that Jesus was one Person with a fully divine AND a fully human nature. Again, the doctrine of the hypostatic union.
