How wonderful the two of you want to honor those friends serving in the military overseas. I suggest you put a little statement about your friends that cannot be there due to their serving our country overseas on the bottom or back of your program. Also, you and your husband can do a toast after the other toasts have been done at the reception honoring your friends in the military serving our country overseas.

Candles for those serving overseas can be lit during the ceremony and a note can be made in the program. I've always found candle lighting to be very symbolic, they are a light in a dark world.
You could also get a military thank-you card from WalMart or Hallmark and have everyone sign it and include a photograph and a note from you two about how you thought of them on your wedding day.
All the suggestions above are great as well!

That type of information belongs in your Ceremony Program so your wedding guests can see it. After the wedding send the extra Ceremony Programs to all those people in Iraq, they will be excited to see their names and how much you cared and missed them.

Video tape the wedding and have a special message recorded from the two of you (you can do it in a toast, or just a brief message for just the camera) for all those who couldn't be with you. Then, have a camera set up somewhere where guests can say something to the troops in Iraq as well.

Don't do this at the ceremony. However, at the reception, it can be mentioned when you give your thank yous at the program following the dinner.

Wouldn't it be nice, if, after the clergy were to say "Dearly beloved, we are gathered today to join these two in holy matrimony", that he/she should also add and to honor those friends, fighting for our freedom, who are unable to attend this glorious celebration."?
Also, at the reception, perhaps the groom could make a toast to your friends over in Iraq.
Also, for me, please tell your fiance, that I am very proud of him and your friends. Without men and women like them, we would not have our freedom. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you do.

I doubt every person would be there different than his kin,so if somebody from the defense force is there perchance they may well be forced or maybe they nevertheless think of he served his usa.this could be a catch-22,he served for the pink, white and blue yet killed law enforcement officers.Who approves this request?

It's your wedding do you think people will really care about you mentioning some friend who is in Iraq fighting in a pointless war? I honestly would not care.
