Today's newspaper writers are just as inspired by their God as were the Biblical writers, but that does not make either of them right. All express their own points of view, and don't care if it is only half-right, distorted or wildly exaggerated.

You are trying to compare apples with oranges. How did you get out of high school, if you questioned everything in print. And if you question the validity of the Bible, then I am sure you question the school books. Can you believe the dictionary is correct? At some point in life, everyone has to make a decision about what they believe and why.

The newspaper is not the divinely inspired word of God. The Bible is. I may question the contents of the newspaper, but I will never question the validity of the Word of God.

Not at all. Newspaper writers are not spiritually inspired to write. In fact, many of them write for a fourth-grade audience and are terribly unlearned about the subjects they by-line. As an historian, I can tell you that the Bible was written by Holy-Ghost -inspired men and women. It has not changed since it was written, which cannot be said for the points of views of newspaper writers and most importantly, the Bible is meant for the spiritual edification of BELIEVERS, who believe without what NONBELIEVERS call "proof". I would suggest you take a Bible study course or course in the Judaic-Christian authors of the Torah and Christian Bible.

That's a first. Name one journalist with a reputable newspaper or news organization that has claimed to be inspired by God when they report the news.

Last I checked the Bible says that "all scripture is inspired of God", not "all news reports".

If I wanted to test the validity of a newspaper story, I would look to see if I can find the same story reported from another source. I might check out the reported to see if he has a history of slanting his stories, and being innaccurate. Then I would try to see if I could get information directly from the person(s) involved with the event being reported.

When it comes to the Bible, we are fortunate that most of the events of the Bible are told from multiple sources. For example, there are four different records of the life of Christ.

I can also check on the lives of the Bible authors, such as the gospel writers, because details about them can be found in other sources, such as the epistles of Paul and the book of Acts.

Finally, I can talk directly to God himself and ask him to confirm from me the reports within the book. To date, he has agreed with everything in the book.

So, using multiple sources, the characters of the authors, and direct interviews with the person involved, I have found the Bible to be trustworthy.

Oh, and you reached the conclusion that newspapers are "God breathed" how....?

Be afraid. Be very afraid... of all the loony answers above me from the cult of Jesus and its loyal following of bible worshipers. They scare me. (w/ exception of L'chaim)

You just gotta love their irrefutable logic. How do they know the Bible is the word of God? Well of course, it's because God told them it was - in the Bible! Can you say circular logic?

If you get caught at some crucial point and somebody tells you that your doctrine doesn't make sense--you're ready for him. You tell him there's something above sense. That here he must not try to think, he must “feel”. He must “believe”. Suspend reason and you can play it deuces wild.
— Ayn Rand

If you don't think that logic is a good method for determining what to believe, make an attempt to convince me of that without using logic. No one has even bothered to try yet.
— Brett Lemoine

Faith may be defined briefly as an illogical belief in the occurrence of the improbable.... A man full of faith is simply one who has lost (or never had) the capacity for clear and realistic thought. He is not a mere ***: he is actually ill.
— H.L. Mencken

I find every sect, as far as reason will help them, make use of it gladly; and where it fails them, they cry out, it is a matter of faith, and above reason.
— John Locke (1632-1704)

Most of our so-called reasoning consists in finding arguments for going on believing as we already do.
— James Harvey Robinson, (1863-1936)

The deepest sin against the human mind is to believe things without evidence. Science is simply common sense at its best -- that is, rigidly accurate in observation, and merciless to fallacy in logic.
— Thomas Huxley; (1825-1895)

Any attempt at understanding humanity must include an explanation of the hold that supernatural belief continues to have on most of the human race.
— Vic Stenger

Shouldn't you read the Bible searching for answers as much as you do the newspapers? That is the question. Many who have found answers.

You should scrutinize everything, whether it is a newspaper or the Bible.

Eventually, you will see that the Bible is something much more serious than newspapers.

I'm going to put my complete faith in the Book that 66 books penned by over 40 writers from all walks of life, over the course of 1,500 years, with one message, Jesus. Jesus fulfilled hundreds of prophecies from the Old Testament...the odds of even one happening are astronomical. Journalists are not inspired by God, most are inspired by their own motives versus just reporting the news and letting us decide.

No, because the Bible was inspired by God and is from the mouth of God.
