This is a little off topic, but I lost about 25 lbs over the course of 6 months. The weight kind of snuck up on me and it was hard to take off at first because I was trying to fast and work out way too much. Working out in marathon sessions would get me really tired and I wouldn't want to work out for a few days after. Now, I set time limits on what I will do so I don't get too fatigued and I always feel ready to work out the next day.
Some things that helped me a lot:
replace white rice with brown rice, regular pasta with whole wheat pasta
iced coffee instead of lattes
low fat cheese sticks and carrots as a snack (I am a cheese junky)
eat small meals- 200-300 calories 4-5 times a day. This sounds like very little calories but if you throw in a lot of veggies, you'll stay full.
When I make meat, rather than serving a whole chicken breast, steak, etc. I tend to cut up the meat and incorporate it into salads or rice dishes so that I'm not eating to much meat (which is calorie dense).
Drink lots and lots of water with lemons and or limes.
Replace soda with sparkling water.
Splurge now and then on a good bottle of wine or some frozen yogurt.
Eat lots of fruits and veggies- try new ones to spice things up.
Cook with extra virgin olive oil.
Cooking Light also has a lot of good recipes and cooking techniques to make meals healthier.
My workouts include super sets- where I don't rest in between sets because I work two muscle groups at a time. For example- do a set of lunges and then during the time you'd normally rest, do some bicep curls. This allows me to do more in less time and keeps my heart rate up.
I also keep "fat" pictures handy just as a reminder that I don't want to go back to being overweight and tired all the time.
Basically, you have to realize that being healthy and feeling good about yourself is more important than eating a lot of decadent food and sitting around. It sounds easier than it is but once this clicks in your mind, you'll wonder why you ever had trouble losing weight before. I feel a million times better and rather than fixating on food, I try to find new adventures to keep me occupied.

If you want to do a diet that you can actually stick to that is not total deprivation, try Weightwatchers online. You don't have to go to any meetings and it tracks everything for you. You just plug in what you eat. There are no foods that the diet restricts you from eating so you can find something even if you're out to eat. You just have to pay attention to portion sizes and not go over your point totals. You can expect to lose about 30 pounds in 3 months. I lost slightly more than that....my husband did as well. My friend lost about 25. This may seem slow but we've managed to keep it off. Whenever I went on a real restrictive diet and lost it faster, it just piled back on when I stopped dieting and brought along a few more pounds for good measure.
I loved the WW program because I hate buying specialized "diet food". My lifestyle has me at my kids' sports banquets, eating at restaurants once in a while, and fixing food for a family of 6, so I can't be fixing separate meals for all of us. Weight Watchers makes it easy to blend the diet in with your normal life. When my family is having pizza, I can too. I just eat it with a huge salad and only have one piece. Lots of flexibility.
There are also message boards so you can find out what foods have been lifesavers for other people and get tips on what works.
The three months are going to pass anyway, you might as well give it a try and be 30 pounds lighter for your cruise. It should cost about $45 for the first three months.
Do you know how awesome it feels to go into the store for the first time to buy a size smaller? It's GREAT! You CAN do this and you WILL lose weight if you follow it

By running for two hours a day the average person could burn 1600 extra calories per day. If you burned that many more calories per day you could lose 38.4 pounds of fat.
