What path do I go to find out exactly what programs are included in my startup. I probably need to delete some but not sure how to do. Also, if I do delete one and need to get it back, how do I do that also. Thanks much!

Start-run, type msconfig in the box, click the startup tab. These are the programs that start when your computer starts. Uncheck any that you do not need. To see what they are used for, put the names in the google search engine. If you find out you need the program, just put the checkmark back..good luck..

As I understand, the startup folder under program files has the startup programs properly installed under it. However, some programs are started through the registry.

You can use msconfig to manage these as well. This may be the right solution for you.

The best way to manage it is through a program. May I recommend Advanced Windows Personal Care available for free at ZDNet (download.com)? This will allow you to do most windows maintenance tasks easily and give you some level of guidance to block what you don't need and use what you do.

Download this software:

Extract the ZIP archive and install EXE file. A new "StartUp" icon will appear at your Control Panel. Here you can see the required information.

start>run>msconfig>enter or ok>startup tab>there they are in all their glory

It's all checkbox operated so you can experiment by unchecking and rechecking if necessary.
