Sub-conscious statistical analysis. 1 in 4 people have an incurable STD. 70% of transmission occur from people that show no symptoms. While they may not realize it, they are actually placing odds on the possibility that they could either give or receive a disease. Just to be safe, always assume protection was not used. The odds work like this.....if you have 4 unprotected partners, you have at least a 25% chance of contracting an STD. 50 % for 8 partners, and so on. Therefore, if you told the guy that you had been with 100 guys, not only would he have to naturally assume you are an easy target but also probably infested with Stds. Certainly nothing intended personally, as the rule works both ways.
People are rightly paranoid. If you determine that someone is high risk, it might be wise to move on without investing much time or resources into developing the relationship.

"Prolific" people (ahem) tend to remain prolific!
It's an important consideration in the event the guy is looking for something meaningful. I'm sure girls want to know this as well the other way around.
