Faith "proving something" is an oxymoron.
I'd be willing to bet that many in that lunatic asylum have a misplaced faith in their own intellect, and refuse to believe in anything greater than themselves.

You bring up a good point. I don't believe what I believe based on faith alone, but neither does anyone. Even a Darwinist Atheist has faith in some form. Many of them profess that the big bang was the beginning of everything. Looking at the evidence, I agree, and think that something pretty close to that must have occurred at some point. As a Christian though, the only point we differ on is the SOURCE of the big bang. Either way, no one was there to witness it, so some level of faith is involved no matter what you believe.
Ever seen the Matrix by the way? Maybe our entire lives are nothing but a simulation (or maybe we're all mental!) But there's no way to prove that, and even if we begin using THAT as a hypothesis, there's no sure-fire way to prove that everyone is crazy. So even that belief would require an element of...you guessed it: faith!
Very good question! I love thinking about things like that.

I can't say - I've never had occasion to wander though an asylum. Wandered through a prison once, escorting youngsters on a scared straight program and got a good look at how that system works, but I cannot say I saw any evidence that faith had any real effect on their lives.

Your question makes little sense. Faith is not supposed to prove anything. This is the sort of question young college people find so intriguing when they are first exposed to the likes of Nietzsche and the rest of the so called Existentialist Philosophers.
All are totally opposed to rationalism and all are equally flawed pathetic attempts to legitimize secular humanism and moral relativism. Not to worry, in time most who are exposed to it will recover from this nonsense.

It does not. You have to have faith in something... even if it is that you will wake up tomorrow morning the same as you are today. If not, you would not make plans for breakfast.
