If you know the advice you are giving is good advice based on your experience & what you know to be 100% factual, does it irk you sometimes when someone picks a really stupid answer? I know opinions vary & everone sees things differently but really..

I answered a question from a lady who found a baby bird & was wondering what to do with it. I worked for a wildlife rehaber for a few years & it is not legal to keep & take care of any wildlife if you are not a licensed rehaber or working under one's supervision. Stiff fines if caught. I had to carry my certificate with me at all times in case I found something injured & picked it up. I explained all this to the lady & suggested she take it to a rehaber.

She picked some silly answer, good luck if you could even understand it there were so many ooh how cutie, little birdie, etc. She gave her off the wall advice. I pity the little bird. She stated this answer was good because most suggested she turn it into a rehaber. Duh?

To me this person is very immature and of a non-responsible nature. She is more concerned with her wants than that of the bird. I guess this is all part of human nature and there is nothing I can do about it. Some people just want to stay ignorant and not learn anything. If I knew her address I would have turned her in to the DEC for the wellfare of any other wildlife that may come into her possession.

Of course, just my opinion. Can't wait to see some of the answers I get.

I know exactly what you mean!!! I am an ornithologist and try and give good advice of what is the right and legal thing to do when a baby bird is found and sometimes my answers get ignored and the person ends up keeping the bird and killing it because they took the suggestion of someone who does not know what they are talking about!! I don't know why people who know NOTHING about birds even answer these questions knowing that they can casue someone to kill wildlife! It's SO frustrating!! I guess all we can do is HOPE someone takes our answers as truth. Keep up the good work.

I agree. This happens to me all the time. One time someone asked what they shold do to their pet who has mites. I told them their was no home remedies and that the poor rat would just keep scratching until it got a skin infection and died and yet they picked a pathetic answer that said to rub some oil on it to stop the itch! The sad thing is that these people probably didn't take the rat to the vet and it upsets me greatly that the rat had to suffer. I guess some people are just ignorat.

Try not to take it so personally. I think some people just don't like to listen to the clearly good advice they get. Oh well, hopefully she will realize her mistake and take the bird where it needs to be.

I completely agree!! There are some people out there asking questions, but not really looking for a real answer, they just want someone to agree, with what they feel they should do.

I agree 100%, but try not to let it get to you. Some people are just ignorant, and they won't learn until they have to pay the price
