..there is a *cause* for everything?

eg
- apple falls - cause:gravity
- you and me - cause:conception
- rivers - cause:rain falls at source
- painting - cause: artist
- car - cause:someone assembled it

...and so on.

So what caused the universe to come into being?

Forget the label for the moment - 'God', 'Intelligent Being', 'Creator', 'Higher Power', 'Nature', etc - but there must be a *first cause*, isn't it?

So what caused the universe to come into being?

Answering that 'the Big Bang', 'nobody knows', 'doesn't matter to know', 'give me proof of a God' - isn't an answer, please.

The question is - Atheists, so what caused the universe to come into being?

Thanks for all the abusive answers - proves my point that some people have no answers, and can't do better, isn't it? They are as blind as they accuse those believers in a God as blind.

Those who are serious in answering the question - please read carefully. So far, all the serious answers I got - just evaded the question, did not answer it.

Doesn't everything have a cause? Do you agree?

Call it what you will, so isn't there a *first cause* for the universe to come into being?

2007-07-05 04:53:30 · update #2

'Who caused God?' - I won't dodge - the ans. is - I don't know.

You see, my ques is - don't you agree there is a *cause* for the creation of the universe? Doesn't matter if there is a creator of the creator of the universe - my ques remains - don't you agree that logically and scientifically there is a *cause* for the creation of the universe?

As for the answer of Greek philosophy and its flaw-sorry,but that don't make it cos Christians can say the same-humankind cannot know the mind of God, except that as *revealed*by God eg in the bible-if you accept your philoso. flaw, you have to accept the Christians' logic-so where are you?

2007-07-05 05:04:43 · update #3

psycho-'proof' is not only in the bible. There are now scientifically researched near death experiences that confirms there is existence after death, and people do have experience of divinity. Of course, if you do not accept such 'evidence', it's actually the same way Christians don't accept the logic and 'evidence' of Atheists. Don't you see?

2007-07-05 05:07:46 · update #4

eri - go on and become hysterical for all you want - I don't deal with people who are abusive; you complain that I have already made up my mind, but there you go - seems like you have already made up your mind about me - so since you choose to have an uncivil discourse, and I have no interest in an uncivil discourse, let's just stop here. Thank you for your response. Good day.

I'm not an atheist, but I'd like to read these, seriously. Do you have links to them?

by your own argument your god must of had a creator and that creator and that creator a creator ad infinitum.

why can't we say the big bang it's the currently accepted theory. Why do you want people who aren't scientists to come up with a new theory and also proof of how the universe came into existance?

Although I'm quite happy to admit I have no clue and why should I. I'm just an overly smart mammal after all. However I do believe that one day we'll figure it out and the answer will not be a god

think of concerning to the mass of absolute nothingness inflicting the introduction of rely! there are various evidences that ingredient in direction of the super Bang. the super Bang does not pass against God, although the nuts accessible have a tendency to think of so. God explains issues technology can no longer. What we don't comprehend is how that rely exchange into formed or started. Who is acquainted with, would have been divine, would have been organic. the main important section to look at isn't the truly introduction of the universe, yet here. there is this manner of little danger that the universe would have made it that for the time of my own opinion, there had to be some thing help it alongside the way. and hence i've got self assurance in God. you may no longer prepare the existence of God or the legitimacy of a faith using books, articles, arguments, and so on. you may in basic terms use good judgment and choose your self, consistent with although information you have have been given. looking your non secular ideals, or lack there of, is a private adventure!

You are asking the wrong question. Why ask why someone DOESN'T believe in something?
I don't have to know the right answer in order to know when an answer is wrong.
Let me give you an example: in some ancient cultures, they believe the earth was carried on the back of an animal. Why don't you believe that? Would you have to understand about the rotation of the planets and gravity and whatever other science is involved to know that this explanation is wrong?
You, like so many other "believers" make a mistake when you try to make a logical argument for your faith. It can't be done--and if you believed so deeply, you wouldn't feel the need to try. Somewhere, deep down, you KNOW this doesn't make sense.

Our experience is cause and effect. At the quantum level, the relationship is not so clear. This means that the assertion that there is a cause for everything, may not hold true. Why couldn't the first cause be a spontaneous event? Not having an answer to the cause of the universe does not make the answer God. There is no merit to your flimsy argument.

man, you said it yourself! there is a *cause* for everything!!

but this cause is not god, 'cause this is not logical. gravity is logical and the rain is logical, but what you can't see and explain IS NOT logical. and there are logical explanations about how the world was created.

and i find ''give me proof of a god'' a very logical answer. if you don't accept this as an answer, this means you are absolut and afraid that you can't answer it. admit it. you can't prove there is a god. the bible and the church don't mean anything to me. i can write a book with imaginary facts, too. think about it. how can we accept that there is a god when we don't see him and feel him by our side? don't tell me now that he is always by our side and we can feel him if we want to. this is ****.

think about something else. when you achieve something, you thank god, who he helped you make it, but when something bad happens to you, you think it's your fault. so this means you are unable to do anything by yourself.

and before you accuse me of anything (even though i don't care what you think of me), i could believe that christ was a good man and tried to make other people good, too, but i could nevah believe that he is a god. there is no such thing.

aren't i right? (i still don't care what you think of me)

Well, I'm sorry, but "God did it" isn't an answer, either.

Nobody ever said atheists had all the answers. In fact, that's one of the things that sets them apart from religious people, who, when they can't explain something, say "God did it." Atheists rely on the available scientific evidence, and so far, science can't tell us where the singularity that made up the Big Bang came from. Maybe someday it will. I personally suspect that the answer lies in quantum physics. But I'm not about to say I know when I don't.

Wrong section - that's a physics question.

Why do theists not believe in a SuperGod? Isn't it scientifically and logically that...?
..there is a *cause* for everything?

eg
- apple falls - cause:gravity
- you and me - cause:conception
- rivers - cause:rain falls at source
- painting - cause: artist
- car - cause:someone assembled it

...and so on.

So what caused God to come into being?

Here you go. About halfway down the page - the origin of our universe.

You asked for it - now are you going to read it? I doubt it. You seem to have already made up your mind.

EDIT: Hey, I answered the question with the most recent scientific research on the subject - this just came out last week. And you're still protesting that we won't answer the question? Why do you ASK questions if you're not planning to consider the answers?

Actually, when an apple falls from the tree, it is the result of gravity, the tree, the apple, the wind, the season, other apple trees and much, much more.

Why on earth should atheists believe in one creator when your metaphors so perfectly promote polytheism?

you and me: Mom AND Dad, and the society that raised them.
Rivers: Evaporation, condensation, shape of land, time, geologic materials present, wind, landscape.
painting:artist, paint manufacturer, canvas maker, art teacher, maker of the artist's food.
car:someone*s* assembled it, designers, engineers, inventors, factory builders, steel workers, painters, etc.
