The difference is Vicodin is actually Hydrocodone and percocet is actually Oxycodone so the difference is the chemical make up and they way they interact with the body plus their strength. If the dosage is exactly the same the Oxycodone is stronger because of the way it works.
Of course in this case the breakdown is 7.5mg of Vicodin and 750 mg of acetaminophen versus 7.5mg of Oxycodone and 325mg of acetaminophen. The percocet is less diluted or more pure. They are both known to cause nausea, but the percocet seem to cause it in more people. The both give you about the same effect, but the Oxycodone last longer.

You can. Oxycodone (Percocet) and Hydrocodone (Vicodin) are derived from different opium alkaloids and each bind to different receptors. Hydrocodone will help with the withdrawal symptoms of Oxycodone but not eliminate them 100%. Biggest danger you face is taking too much Tylenol which is part of both the drugs you are using and damaging your liver and kidneys. The person asking the question is asking can, not should he use both drugs. The answer is yes. I don't agree with his practice but they can be used together. The are not the same drugs. Oxycodone is derived from the opium alkaloid Thebaine. It is a pure agonist and targets the mu receptors in the CNS. Hydrocodone is targeting the K receptors and has a cap on it's ability to mask pain. In other words when you reach this level you can not get more relief by taking more of the drug. The toxicity although would increase and create an overdose eventually shutting down respiration. The only difference between Percocet and Oxycontin is Percocet is immediate release with the full dosage being delivered at once. It also contains acetaminophen (Tylenol). This is added mainly to prevent IV use as opposed to increasing the effectiveness. Oxycontin is a continuous release tab releasing the oxycodone gradually over a 12 hour period and contains no other active compounds.

The Percocet is a bit stronger than the Vicodin. It has always worked much better for me than Hydrocodone. I've geard from people who take it recreatinally that Percocet is a more euphoric drug than Vicodin, but since I take narcotics for pain management, I don't get any euphoria from them at all so I can't speak for that. Both Vicodin and Percocet are derived from Thebaine, a parent alkaloid of the papaver sominiferum poppy. They do not contain any codeine, nor are they made from codeine. Codeine is an entire different parent alkaloid, as is Morphine, of the papaver plant.

Your vicodin 7.5/750 has 750mg tylenol
percocet 7.5/325 has 325mg tylenol
They both have the same amount of hydrocodone.

percocet is more addictive. the /325 is the amount of ibuprophen in mgs. The percocet will have an itchy side effect.

the vicodin is not as strong as the percocet, and has more than twice the tylenol.
