i own a new innova.its 1 year old and mileage is 15000 kms.all of a sudden it has started to emit thick, smelling black smoke,too evident on acceleration.tried by changing fuel filter besides cleaning the air filter.didnt help.is anything wrong with the catalytic converter??any suggestions?

Typically black smoke means you've got too much fuel. Has your gas mileage suffered?

If it's a new car, then take it back to the Toyota Dealership and let them know the problem. It should be under warranty.

Otherwise, it's likely that your O2 sensor is out of calibration and signalling the computer to inject too much fuel.

Black smoke is caused by a rich fuel condition.

I would call the dealership and tell them ASAP!
