It's for a livingroom. The furniture is a sage green color and casual material. The carpet is a medium grey color. The curtains are choclate brown/cream, but can easily be changed if you'd like to make a suggestion. Also, everything is a solid, would a print help break it up? I want to keep a warm, casual, but put-together look. Thanks to every and anyone who takes the time to answer. You're opinion is greatly appreciated as I am challenged in this area!

Sounds lovely! May I suggest something warm and fairly neutral? A warm brown in a medium value would look great with your brown curtains and green furniture.

Here are a few color suggestions:
(Sherwin Williams colors, can be found online and matched to any other brand)
Sands of Time (SW 6101)
Practical Beige (SW 6100)
Trusty Tan (SW 6087)

To break up all the solids, simply add some patterned pillows or a throw blanket on your couch. Take a swatch of the sage fabric to a TJMaxx or other store with throw pillows and choose something that has the sages, browns and maybe even a complimenting accent in it. Stripes, plaids and casual florals are great. You can mix and match any of these to give the room a lived in and eclectic feel. Some great colors to add would be an antique blue or warm terra cotta red.

Good luck and happy painting!

I would choose a pale yellow. It will pull the sage green and chocolate/cream colours together and lift the grey colour of the carpet. Choose a cool tone in the shade of yellow, otherwise it will clash with the grey. But because yellow is basically a warm colour, the end result will be inviting and complimentary.

Stick to plain walls to avoid a choppy mis-matched look. If you want to break up the solidity of it all, get some scatter cushions in funky prints which feature the rooms main colours, especially the furniture's sage green.

Don't change your curtains until you see the final effect of the walls on the room's decor. Then if you don't like them, you can choose new ones in a colour to suit. One shade darker than the wall colour looks stunning, cleverly makes the room appear larger and will co-ordinate the whole scheme.

Good luck and have fun!

1] replace the curtains with a green and ivory print. Add pillows, art, in green and ivory print. All other accessories should be green, gray or ivory.
2] find some art prints you really like, preferably with sage green in them. Pick a second color that you like from the print, and paint walls that color.
3] possible colors that enhance sage and gray:
rose
peach or salmon
custard yellow or light lemon yellow
very pale lime
aquablue, sky blue
lavender
Get rid of curtains, and get a print with sage, and the wall colors in it.

Well if I were you I would go a warm brown color. It'll make the furniture pop. I would though change the curtains though to a green. Hope I helped a bit!!

it's fine to keep everything solid. i personally need to have some print. if you want to add print you can add pillows to the furniture or change the curtains or add art to the walls. or if you want to do 3 walls solid and 1 print that might be nice too

I think a wallpaper that keeps the earthy colors of your room, but gives the walls a light floral or geometrical look would be lovely. The dominant color should be white or a slightly warm offwhite (like Linen).

I actually have similar color scheme in my living room...I would suggest a nice light toast color--has more personality than beige, but isn't too dark.

i think that beige walls would look really nice, with the brown curtians. But i think that you should put some red patterned pillows on the couch, it will look really good.

or have terracotta coloured walls with darker green pillows on the couch.

me lol.
