I'm not exactly sure what you mean by discreetly, but If it is a first time meeting, it should be in a public place like a coffee shop or a restuarant, where it is quiet enough to be able to talk and get to know each other, but there are plenty of people around.

Try coffee at restaurant, no threat there, no promises if it doesn't work out either. Or meet at your friends house for coffee. Why discreetly? Nothing needs hiding I hope. Good luck

Why would you have to think about that having a discreet meeting? It's your friends' problem not yours. Besides, why you being introduced to him? It should be the other way around. So relax and just be yourself.
