Human beings, at least some of them, will always need some sort of religion, because they have to cope with death, insecurity, fear, and the sheer hugeness of the universe. But atheism and reason will gain weight.

As long as mankind fears death, he will grasp around for any fairytale to avoid having to confront his own mortality. Religion has even fooled man that he can cheat death and live forever! How delusional and in denial do you have to be to buy into that fantasy?

I think we could drag the concept of gods and the supernatural to the ground, show the WHOLE world that the concept is a scam, and prove that it poses potential risk for the human race-

and people would still latch on like maggots on a turd.

Many workings of the universe are either not soon to be known, unknowable, beyond understanding, or univers altering by their discovery.

I think that eventually we will evolve from our current state of being RELIGIOUS & spiritual, to being Religious & Spiritual, to being religious & SPIRITUAL, and ultimately to being SPIRITUAL.

This will not happen in our Lifetime.
