Break the chain. Children should be given the opportunity to discover their religious beliefs (and I would include Atheism and Agnosticism as religious beliefs) on their own.

You should offer them information including what you were taught to believe, why you think it's dumb, and what you believe now. You should not try to force your beliefs on them, whatever those beliefs are.

Are you dumb? =P

Since you find it dumb then why do you want to pass it on to your children? Let them have a choice, by force is never good. Religion is personal, its a belief and different people may choose differently. My parents follows different religion and I don't even believe in the existance of god.

It's not really a should or shouldn't. If you see it as dumb, you most likely won't pass it down to your children. But often people believe the religion they were born into, and don't see it as dumb. So It not really so much should you as would you?

Well beingst that you were taught in what you consider a "dumb" religion, wouldn't it be wise, to teach them some other religion? On the flip side, what you consider to be 'Dumb' may actually be closer to the truth then what you consider to be righteous. It all boils down to your own faith and personal beliefs and relationship with God.

There is no dumb religion.
Man makes religious aspects Dogma and religious dogma is what creates wars and strife.

Christianity, Buddhism, Agnostic, Judaism, are some religions that do not condone war and consider all people to be brothers.
It is man, that made killing in the name of God, a religious manner and therefore condoned. The original Hebrew text of the commandments, state, "Thou shalt not commit murder", not, "Thou shalt not kill".
This variation is dogmatic much like some verses of the Koran and other bibles of various religions.
From that, you can see how far, the one true word, has been diluted to suit political and personal gain of the leaders of the time.

How do you even think that way, if you are of age you need to fine what you are looking for. Something that make sense to you. Young man your parents can't go to heaven for you. That is something you will have to do for yourself. You can take yourself to hell or you can do something about your situation. Why would you want to do this to your kids? come on now! Find you a church that you can;t wait to go to very Sunday. You must have good reason to feel the religion you have is dumb, find one that you will be happy with.

If you think your religion is dumb, that is the start of your freedom. But do not impose it to your children. Just tell them your learnings and understanding. Give them freedom to choose their own religion.

If you are that dumb, yes. On the other hand, it might help to show that the human mind is greater than a copy machine and has the capacity for independant thought and analysis and quite capable of making it's own decisions.

My parents didn't give me a religion until I was 12 but sent me to the local churches in our area as I grew up to allow me access to various teachings of GOD. I was allowed to follow the religion I chose as long as it was in the faith of GOD. Today I gave that same option to my children. I don't know if this helps but it may help you in deciding to not give your children a religion until they are old enough to know what one is and can truely follow the teachings of it.

Your soul will not recieve anything it doesnt want. Be it good or evil.

Your parents didnt give you anything but the awareness that there is a greater power available if you desire it....

Why is any religion dumb???

Do you believe this dumb religion? It sounds like you don't. Don't pass something stupid down for the sake of passing it down or making others happy, do what YOU think is right.

you should find something you believe in and practice that (whether that is a 'religion' or not). you can lead by example for your children and teach them the basics - all faiths teach you to be honest, kind, generous etc etc. if you practice aspects such as prayer they wil see and you can expalin how and why you do this. when they are old enough they will decide what they want - doesnt matter how much you try and indoctrinate them.
