America should ALWAYS support US troops and their military, no matter how unpopular or unjust the war is. These troops are just following orders and doing a great job for their country.

On to Iraq- we have already committed hundreds of billions of dollars in Iraq, in process of building the biggest US embassy known to man, and this administration has led the biggest privatization of this conflict that we have ever seen, squandering billions of dollars of tax payers money in the process of no bid government contracts, mismanagement, and no government oversight that is well documented.

The answer isnt a simple yes or no from withdrawing in Iraq. No matter what the answer is, we simply cant pull out US forces entirely, it would create a vacuum that would spill out and make the Middle East even more volatile, with more terrorists attacking the US on its homeland.

I think that this administration needs to hard press the Iraqi government more, and provide more support if needed to hit its milestones, so that it can protect its own population and take on the government role, instead of the US military doing it. Once thats accomplished, we need to have a scheduled pull out of forces and let Iraq take care of itself. More UN help and forces are needed as well.

If we were to pull out now, everything that we worked for over there would be lost.

I feel a great respect for our troops. While we are sitting at home or work enjoying our freedoms, they are at the same time fighting for everything we hold dear. While we are at a county fair eating a sno cone or perhaps guzzling down a big soft drink, they are holding machine guns fighting for our safety. At night when we tuck ourselves in bed, they stay awake so we can have a peaceful sleep. I am humbled by the sacrafices they make every minute of every day and it is all for us.

As for my opinion on wheather the troops should come home,I look at the world we live in today and am horrified at all the violence that creeps at our doorways. It doesn't appear that the world is getting better, only more and more conflicts arise on a daily basis. There is nothing I'd likie more than to say bring the troops home. However, I feel doing so would put our country in a more dangerous state. There has to be a certain closesure to this hostility and we havn't reached that point yet.

I am very proud of the troops. I am proud that we as Americans can protect our land and people from terrorists and people of war.

We should stay and they should think of trying to educate the people at the same time that other humans that do not follow their religion are not bad people.

We need to stay the long haul. If thats 10 years. Then it's ten years. Who is to say when the proper time at this moment in time. We need to take out the top leaders and the very well trained terrorists to water down their efforts. Look at the last set of bombs in England!!! It is still a very high threat but the bomb makers are not doing well making their bombs. We need to continue and continue these efforts. The only thing now is too go after Doctors, Politicians, Security, that are possible terrorists. If they are not terrorists especially in this country they would be willing to do deep background checks.

They are planting a democracy in the Middle East which will have long term beneficial effects.

In the short run, however, things have appeared to be very chaotic. However, I have little doubt that in 50 years, young and free Iraqi children and adults will look back with pride and respect for what our soldiers have done.

Need an example? Look at Japan. The U.S. dropped the "big one" TWICE on Japan and now 60 years later, General Douglas MacArthur is one of their heroes.

But sometimes things just take time and commitment to bring about results.

Perhaps, given the incredible mess that we have created, it is not a good idea to withdraw as the consequences could seriously effect our access to energy supplies. However, I would suggest just the opposite and declare a draft, build an army 10 million strong, declare martial law in iraq and suspend all social liberties (such as imprisonment, freedom from torture, and trials), eventually remove human existence from the chunk of land and take over the oil fields... then do the same to Iran, and whatever other middle eastern country is bothering us - as needed.
Otherwise, perhaps we should admit was is evident to everyone that we have lost, our president has lied to us and failed us, and immediately withdraw our troops, stop nation building, and return home with our tails between our legs... aside from these two options, we will remain divided as a people, in constant state of war, and our national debt will exceed recoverability.

I am very proud of people who are willing to give up everything including their lives to protect our country. But I think that the whole Iraq war was a horrible idea! It is easy for people sitting in their cozy homes in the US to say keep our troops over because they don't have to fight. It is a good idea (to stay and finish what we started) I just don't want to see more men and women killed.

I feel that our troops went in with the excuse for one word "OIL" Our troops need to come home. many more have died now than when the war began. I dont think its called a war anymore. There are many more countries to worry about such as Iran, N. Korea and for Russia's threats to european contries. BNut what do we do, we worry about contries such as a bombarded Afhganistan and a messed up Irak which more inocents die due to our presence. BRING TROOPS HOME

I really don't know. I don't think we are ever accomplish what we would like to. When we leave, they are going to continue to kill each other, no matter how long we stay. I don't think they will ever be a true democracy. Hope I am wrong. I don't think we should leave a peace keeping force there forever.

I don't like our people in harm's way. But they are there for a purpose, and I believe in it. So does the majority of the people there.

When should we leave? When Iraq can secure itself from the inside and outside. When will that be? Who knows.

I think they should stay and let it be known that they will stay until it is stable. Then and only then will we draw back. The terrorist are betting largely on the queasiness of liberals to make us quit so they can win. this is unacceptable to do this to the people of Iraq.
