Have a doc check for any whiplash, or dislocations first. If there is any inflammation at all, a massage will do more harm then good, so be sure you wait until there is no more inflammation from torn tissues or muscle strain. By then, the pain should be almost gone, because the pain is from the injury, but massage helps not just for pain relief. A massage will release any lactic acid trapped in the muscle, and open up muscle tissue. After an injury, our muscles heal tighter to defend against another injury, kind of like our feelings when we get hurt =) Though the body is trying to 'toughen up' by doing this, it causes us discomfort and can actually get injured again easier because the flexibility is lost. Massaging injured muscles prevents them from healing that way.

Always make sure the therapist is experienced with injuries, or sports therapy. The therapist should never work on inflamed muscles, or do deep work that causes a lot of pain or for More then 10 minutes per area.

I hope the person you are asking for is OK.

you first have to see a medical doctor and get a record of what happened to you in the automobile accident. You will also need a complete examination by the medical doctor. This is going to help you with insurance and possibly any lawsuits that occur from the accident.

After you see the doctor and know what is wrong with you ask the doctor if it would be good for you to get a massage. A massage can help many problems from accidents.

See a doc first to make sure you don't have any injuries you just aren't feeling yet. Once he says you are okay--go get a massage! I bet it'd feel good since I'm positive your muscles are sore from being jerked around.

As long as you have been evaluated medically to rule out broken bones or internal injury, massage would be wonderful to speed up your recovery.
