For the last six months or so I have been experiencing horrible leg cramps and knee pain. Some days are much worse than the others. Has anyone else experienced this?

it's possible because the thyroid controls many parts of the body. I suggest you see your medical doctor and have a blood test done for the thyroid as soon as possible. Once you know what is going on there you will have a better picture of what could be causing your problems.

Dehydration can cause severe pain in the muscles. I recommend you drink purified water mixed with mineral water 50/50. This will replace the minerals that are exiting your body continuously.

I suggest that adults and children drink 40 ounces of water per 100 pounds of body weight every day. Realize that exercise, ambient temperature, and state of health affect the water needs of your body.

Thyroid Muscle Cramps

The thyroid gland produces hormones. It also produces Calcium ( with help from the Parathyroid gland). Calcium can build up in the blood which causes production of Lactic Acid. This definitely can cause muscle cramps. Are your Thyroid levels normal?? When was the last time you had blood work done?Do you drink alot of milk, eat cheese? As far as the knee pain is concerned, it could be caused by many things. It would be best to have x-rays of the knee to rule out injury or bone buildup ( which can be caused by too much calcium in the blood). Consult with your Doc, please. This has been going on for too long!! Good Luck

Muscle and joint pain is a symptom of hypothyroidism. Many times this symptom can be helped by either a T3 or a T4/T3 thyroid medication. Have you been tested for hypothyroidism or the presence of thyroid antibodies. That's the first place to start, making sure the test is first thing in the morning only. You might want to test the free t3, along with TSH, free T4, and antibodies. If the free t3 is below midrange, that could account for the muscle pain.

I am hypothyroid (underactive) I have had the muscle aches and knee problems. Armour helped the aches. Osteo Biflex helped my knee cracking.
