I am also a weight lifter and hated cardio until i realized in order to lose that extra fat i had to do cardio. Walking your dog 1.7 miles will definetly be better than sitting on the couch at home. Having a dog will definetly make losing weight easier since they are needy and dont really care if you are tired or not. They still want to go for a walk. Try to maintain a brisk pace and you should lose about a pound a week extra on this plan.

If you have been maintaining your weight up until now, then yes, walking nearly 2 miles every other day will help you lose weight. If you want to lose it faster, then start to reduce the amount that you eat, but keeping in mind that food is fuel, so you should still eat a healthy amount.

As far as seeing results, that just depends. It depends on how fast you walk, how much you eat, and how much you already weigh. Before you start this, weigh yourself. The weigh yourself once a week at the same time of day each time, and preferably naked. This is the best way to chart your progress.

Also, take note of how your feel and how your clothes are fitting. That a wonderful indication of your progress, and a motivating one too!

Good luck!

Cardio everyday for 20-30 minutes. Get your heart rate up everyday and keep doing it. You will see results after a week or so.

Good Luck
