I'm a guy, and this is how I break down what I look for in a girl:
1. A pretty face (75% of first impression, 10% of overall)
2. A nice a** (15% of first impression, 10% of overall)
3. Nice rest of body (5% of first impression, 5% of overall)
4. A great personality (5% of first impression, 75% of overall)
Notice there are two categories: first impression (short run) and overall (long run).

Looks are part of what makes a person attracted to another but personality matters a lot more (at least to me). Someone could be so handsome or so pretty but really mean. My friend Mindy says that she looks for what's on the inside because that's what matters most. I'm sure there are a bunch of people out there that don't go for looks.

Only because it can grab their attention quicker. But once a hot ***hole opens his mouth, it stops being important. Or even if you think you are not smokin' but you approach her and are nice, polite, confident, and smart, she is not gonna say "wow, this guy is awesome. Too bad he's not as hot as that other guy." Also, if a girl likes you, you start looking hotter to her. Being obsessed with only a particular kind of look and condemning of all others is really more of a guy thing.

of course looks are VERY important. The laws of natural selection dictate this. We are hardwired to be attracted to good looking in shape people so we can better ourselves as a species and pass on the superior genetics.
Anyone that says that looks arent important to them is lying. If looks werent important to them, they would have no problem looking for dates at the Special Olympics.

Yes, we ALL go for looks. The first thing we see when we view someone is THEIR LOOKS....APPEARANCE. We constantly judge people based on how they look befor even getting to know them. We tend to do that and dont even realize it. So yes, looks ARE important but it can be more important for some than it would be for others,

The first impression is, sadly, usually the lasting impression. Looks do play a part in this, but so does attitude, humor, and hygiene. People are shallow, not saying that EVERYONE goes for looks, but most people do. Now, as long as you can make the person laugh the first time you meet them, they WILL remember you.

I think attraction is important. I could go on a date with the most good-looking guy ever but if he was a jerk or rude he wouldn't be attractive to me anymore. Then I could go on a date with an "average Joe" type of guy that treats me with respect, makes me laugh and we just have an all together good time and I would be totally attracted to them.

Looks are the initial attraction, but to keep someone interested and possibly fall in love, it becomes the personality that keeps someone attracted, not what they look like on the surface.

To me...no not really. It's about thier personality. But to most people it's about looks. Most of the time the guys who look good end up being a nasty jerk.

Depends on what kind of person you are and what person you are dating. Do you love the outward or the inward beauty? Do the people your dating share your same value of true beauty?
Now if your just asking if you should dress nice and not sloppy... dress nice.
