If there are no funds in the account, the check will "bounce" or be returned to the credit card company as unpayable. You will be charged in insufficient funds fee by the bank and possibly another similar fee by the credit card company, as well as possible late fees for the payment. Go to the bank, explain what happened and hope for the best. You won't go to jail for it, but could end up paying some extra fees.

Give the bank a call and tell them what you did, and ask them what will happen now. Then call the credit card company and get it straightened out.

You aren't in serious trouble. About the worst that would happen is, if your credit card payment is late because of this situation, you'd get hit with interest and a late fee. You made a mistake, you weren't trying to defraud anyone.

You should call the credit card company as your bank account is already closed and they have nothing to do with it.
