As a Newcastle resident, perhaps I should have a say.

What this has to do with immigration is beyond me. My home town has many cultures in it and I am proud to see them and talk to them. We have a culture of openness and hospitality that no far right party can take away from us.
If the people of Scotland want independence, I wish them the best of luck. Only Labour and the Tories fear independence as it would deprive the economy for a short while. So what? Push Legoland and Buck House for a few more quid and bring some more tourists in.
Newcastle is on the south side of Hadrian's wall - I know as I see it each time I go to work. When it was built it was the partition between England and Scotland. Ask the people of Northumberland if they want to be part of England or Scotland - I don't know what the answer is!

Newcastle? Don't think so mate. Do you mean Berwick perhaps (that was once the most prosperous town in Scotland)? Personally speaking, as a Scot, the Border should stay as it is, unless of course the people of Berwick, Newcastle or whatever wanted to become part of Scotland. Somehow I can't see it though.

You'll just have to join the queue mate.

In the Welsh language, the word[s] for England translate to mean "lost land".

This means that we Welsh have a prior claim.

Let's not argue about the ownership of Newcastle. It's a trifling matter.

Tell you what, I'll scribble down a new ownership on the back of an envelope and you can have it.

I think the people of Newcastle would have something to say about that dont you.....

Do you know what, its people like you that cause segregation within the UK.....

The welsh can be just as bad, i'm English and i have no problem with anyone from Scotland, Wales or Ireland... i have better things to be getting on with in my life then worrying about who's got freedom from whom....

I think alot of people need to do a bit of growing up and stop this playground nonsense....

Ask yourself who came to this island first? It was not the Romans,Saxons Vikings or the Normans so how can you say the lands of Newcastle belong at the moment to the descendants of the Saxons when they were invaders.
Almost as bad as Tony Blair who, when on a Time Team programme asked a member of the team" who was here before the Romans"?

If Scotland ever does achieve Independance you may find it not so glamorous as you expect.
Because, in this world there is no absolute independance any more.

As to Newcastle, how far back does one go to establish a race history?

I fear you have been misled on this issue.

Newcastle was never scottish,it was built to keep out marauding scots and from the time of bruce and wallace along with the bambinos we left behind was populated by scots .Why do you think the scots and geordies both hate the southern english. The first dukes of northumberland were southerners who oppressed the north ,why did the earl of surrey govern the north.

I bet when you get your freedom you will be still whining and whinging about the English, you Scots make me laugh, don't you realize that most English don't give a toss about your need to be independent, in fact most would gladly let you have it tomorrow, as for having Newcastle back, as someone else just said, the people of Newcastle might have something to say about that.

Aidily, Yes I do and I apologize, it was just a bit of fun, but I realize it was offensive, so as you can see I have deleted it.

Only if you want a repeat performance of Culloden.

The question should be more like "when Scotland has independence can we English claim all our money back?"
